Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Based on what he's shown so far, I can't fathom simply handing the reigns to Manziel next year. Nor can I fathom damning this team to below average QB play with Hoyer. They either have to bring in a vet as the backstop if Manziel looks like crap, or challenge Manziel with another young QB.

Not sure why you wouldn't draft another if you thought the right guy was there. Manziel is a sunk cost at this point.
The right guy wont be there for us this draft, that is my point.

Eh, then that's fine. Nobody is saying you draft a guy at QB you think is a slug just to draft someone. But value is also relative to draft slot. Maybe there isn't a guy worth a first round grade, but there are others you might think are worth a shot. There were a few such guys in this year's draft, like Derek Carr.

Point is, I don't think we should remove QB from our needs list just to hand the ball to the guy we drafted this past year. I think our normal QB calculus should still be in effect, and I see nothing inherently wrong with Manziel having some non-veteran competition.

The most amazing part about it to me is that we commissioned a $100,000 study that said Bridgewater was the best QB in the draft and have a GM who loved Bridgewater... only to ignore all of that and draft Manziel. But hey, when a homeless guy tells your owner to draft someone, all plans go right out the window.

Good god...

People enjoy this rhetoric/type of fanhood... I ask to those people, how? How is it fun to drive back to this garbage complaining annually? Don't say it isn't fun; you wouldn't be doing it annually if you didn't enjoy it.

I've got to agree. I really have no interest in reading posts like that anymore. Comes off as whiny and annoying. We have some really good minds on these forums but also a lot of people who think snark and facetiousness is cool and enjoyable to read. It really isn't. I've been guilty of the same and I'm trying to steer away from it.

See I was about to go all moral highground here until you said this :chuckle:.

But what is a message board without sarcasm? There's no reason we can't have snark and substance all rolled into one.

That's what has made RCF great for so long, honestly.

Oh please, though, compared to you I've been a saint. :chuckle: Yeah, I agree though. These Browns seasons just wear me the fuck down. I invest too much time and enthusiasm into these teams, by December, I just don't feel like reading that shit. I need to recharge in time for the draft.

So is essentially 6 quarters of football enough for them to move on?

Looked awful, unprepared and completely lost. He looked like guy picked from the scout team who had been with the team a week. His performance pretty much backed up the smoke about his maturity and work ethic. You don't hand a job to a QB like that and you certainly do not tie your own job security to them. At the very least the Browns need a viable alternative at backup.

Quick reminder that posts baiting arguments are still frowned upon. B00bie will be taking two days off because he has been told it has to stop.

Remember that b00bie isn't staff. Far from it. Come to us with complaints about inappropriate posts.

another team offers a 3rd round pick for manziel right now. do you take it?

This will not happen, shouldn't even be discussed. The Ravens got bolden for a 4th and we are expecting a third for Manziel? Let's be more realistic, a 6th or 7th is the best you're getting.

No, if we don't have a real answer at qb, there's not one in this draft imho unless it's a project. Projects don't work in cleveland, so you play JFF. Hope he gets better to the point where he improved drastically or he helps you run the tank.

Not drafting bridgewater is already water under the bridge. We don't need to continue down this path. If any of us were in farmers shoes we would have done the same exact thing if in fact haslam told him to do it. At the end of he day he's the one signing the checks.
