Browns sign Butler to extension
01.12.2007
The Cleveland Browns have signed OL Kelly Butler to a two-year contract extension, the club announced on Friday.
Butler was claimed by the Browns via waivers on Sept. 3, 2006 and started in five games at right tackle last season. He saw his first action of the 2006 campaign against the New York Jets in Week 8, helping the Browns record 147 rushing yards. Five weeks later, Butler and the Cleveland offensive line paved the way for the Browns offense to post season-highs in net yards (438), net passing yards (288) and net rushing yards (150) in a 31-28 overtime victory against Kansas City.
Butler was originally a sixth-round draft choice, 172overall, by the Detroit Lions in the 2004 NFL Draft. During his collegiate career at Purdue University, he started every game at offensive tackle and earned All-Big Ten honors by The Sporting News following his freshman season.

Not too surprising with Ryan Tucker's future in doubt and depth needed along the line...
