The Cleveland Browns have signed OL Kelly Butler to a two-year contract extension, the club announced on Friday.

Butler was claimed by the Browns via waivers on Sept. 3, 2006 and started in five games at right tackle last season. He saw his first action of the 2006 campaign against the New York Jets in Week 8, helping the Browns record 147 rushing yards. Five weeks later, Butler and the Cleveland offensive line paved the way for the Browns offense to post season-highs in net yards (438), net passing yards (288) and net rushing yards (150) in a 31-28 overtime victory against Kansas City.

Butler was originally a sixth-round draft choice, 172overall, by the Detroit Lions in the 2004 NFL Draft. During his collegiate career at Purdue University, he started every game at offensive tackle and earned All-Big Ten honors by The Sporting News following his freshman season.

Not too surprising with Ryan Tucker's future in doubt and depth needed along the line...

I guess Ryan Tucker is battling depression issues ...they should just buy the guy out of his remaining years and be done with him. Kelly Butler blows ...he's got no athletism at all ...he's only passable as an NFL talent if he can somehow swith inside to OG.

He was cut by Detroit because he's not an NFL caliber OT.

But, in all honesty ...two guys that were basically cut by their repsective teams ...Hank Fraley and Kelly Butler ....were probably the 2nd and 3rd best offensive linemen on our team last year. Jeff Shaffer at LT was ranked as the 25th best Lect Tackle in the league last year, and he was CLEARLY our best offensive lineman.

That tells you just how deloreable our offensive line was.

Joe Anduzzi was ranked 31st, Cosey Coleman 30th, Hank Fraley 28th.. Ryan Tucker was listed and incomplete for some reason. These are rankings at their respective positions on the line.

This was a ranking list put together by Gil Brandt's scouting group.

You guys don't know what we have in Kelly Butler.

It's Kevin Shaffer...just to show what an impact he made in this town :chuckles:

People always mix up his name for some reason...

He'd make an impact if he didn't have Andruzzi next to him... You put a good guard next to him and you'll see better results...

My comment is off topic but Solid Snake I love that Juggernaut video. "Get out of my head Charles!"
