In my opinion, if the Cavs fall short, he probably will get dealt - and I actually think that's the logical thing to do. To be clear, it's not fair to him as he's competed, not complained about being the third option, and been a pro through and though. And he brings value to the Cavs with his defensive rebounding, floor spacing, and scoring. He can get 20 and 10 even as a third option and can probably still get 25 a night as a primary option.
But the reality is that Love is the Cavs most tradable player besides Kyrie Irving. He's on a good contract and is still in his prime. If the Cavs fall short, they really don't have any other ways to fundamentally alter the makeup of their team. Even if you don't get an All Star back, getting back multiple players that could help fill the Cavs holes would be worth it. And if we're being honest, Love has not demonstrated that he plays like a max player against your likely Finals opponent for the foreseeable future. Moreover, Love has injured everything from his hand in Minnesota, to his back, to his shoulder, and now his knees. If it doesn't work out this year, it would be prudent to sell high before another potential injury next season derails his trade value (and your season too).
