So....

Now the question becomes.. Is Kevin Love today worth a max contract to the Cavaliers.

My opinion on this is actually a yes, simply because we're in too deep at this point - we can't replace Kevin Love; but I'd be interested to hear others on this.

You pretty much said it. They have too much invested to back out now. And really, I don't think you replace his skill set. Now, Tristan? Helps yes. Love? Nah. We haven't seen close to his best and I have liked what I have seen from him defensively- he has made improvements and the effort is there. I think bailing in him would blow up on them like how the tribe's bailing on Jeff Kent years ago ended up being a net loss in the long run.

Forget all that, I'm just trying to figure out how a horse can type!!!!
Voice to speech software duh

This is it. We sold the farm for him. We want some value. The real guys moving the goal posts are the ones saying he is good enough with career low efficiency.

You mean value like being the best team in the NBA over the last month and a half?

I respect your point of view, but I disagree. I would absolutely tell someone, to his face, who sounds like someone kicked his dog because our 17/10 power forward isn't a 26/10 guy anymore that they are being a whiny bitch. The guy is a 3rd option on a team that looks primed for a deep playoff run. Why complain? I'm pretty sure there were several games when that shitty T-wolves team needed 30/15 out of him and he gave them 17/10. It happens.

Does he look like the 26/10 guy this year? No. Is it because he was never that good and the Cavs were duped? No. He's on a different team and filling a different role, and I'd bet he's banged up.

If he remains active on the glass and on D while getting 17/10 for the next 5 years, sign me up. He's not doing himself any favors if he wants max money in FA, but he's doing exactly what this team needs him to do.

I think you get my drift.. No matter what disagreements we might have, calling someone a "bitch" over the internet is well, kind of a bitch move.

It's like, you wouldn't say that to someone face to face over a disagreement about Kevin Love being 17/10 or 26/12, so why say it here? I'm just not of the mind of saying things to people on the internet that I wouldn't say to them standing right in front of them.

So with that, let's have a civil discussion, and not refer to people with dissenting opinions as "bitches."

There is just so much wrong with a lot of these comments that I won't even try to address them. The bottom line is that Love had 17 pts / 10 reb / 3 ass / 2 stl / 2 blk in the game. I'll take those numbers any day considering the guy played without the two other stars on the team. Hell, we almost won the damn game.

Just saying, but I'd call you a bitch to your face. Solely to see your reaction. But still. :chuckle:

We must hang around different types of people then. Where I come from, that would get your teeth kicked in, or worse. You don't go around calling grown ass men "bitches" without expecting a fight.

I'm a pretty big guy, and even I wouldn't do shit like that because it's (1) disrespectful as fuck, (2) I'm not tougher than a bullet.

I'll leave it at that.

I don't think that's the bottom line JFT. His efficency leaves a lot to be desired for a 3rd option PF, let alone an All-Star, let alone a supposed "superstar, best at his position, historic talent."

I don't think this is buyer's remorse at this point either.

Look... the offseason is around the corner; Kevin Love will get max contract offers from plenty of teams like the Lakers.

Is he really worth a max contract to the Cavaliers - or are we merely forced to offer him one because we've put ourselves in a situation where there could have been better options?

I agree completely with that assessment. We went all in with Kevin and spent essentially all of our assets this year so we really have no choice. Could we do some type of sign and trade this off-season to a contender in conjunction with perhaps Haywood's contract and swindle a blockbuster 3+ team trade for player X? I don't really think that it is feasible and I doubt it would happen. Do I think that Kevin is worth 20+ million a year? Nope. Has he played like a 20+ million a year player to this point this season? Of course some unwavering loyal morons will argue yes but I think most sane objective individuals would say no.

He was the most expensive 3rd option of all time.he is going to get more expensive. People are applauding him for saying he is picking up his option, but really that is so he can get even more than the 2015 max in 2016.

Is he worth more than Kyrie? Not at all.

Expensive meaning being worth Andrew Wiggins, Bennett and a first? Yep.. that's pretty fucking expensive..

But with regards to his next contract, my understanding is that he would get more money if he opted out today, signed a LeBron-esque 2-year deal, and then opted out again the following year.

I really cannot fathom why he would opt-in. There's no advantage for him to do so? What, to save Gilbert some money? Lol...

Is he worth more than Kyrie? Not at all.

Totally agree.

If we win the title it was totally worth it. Table the contact discussion until after the playoffs?

He's already said a couple different times that he's opting in and staying with the Cavs next season so that's not an issue...and it only makes sense as the 2016 max contract terms will be much, much more lucrative for him and Lebron.

If we don't win a Championship this year or next, then we'll see what he does after that but for these two seasons he's a Cav and his numbers are just fine for a 3rd option player on a Championship contending team.

Sounds like you and your buds are a little sensitive. I'll leave it at that.

The bolded doesn't make sense.

There's nothing stopping Love from signing a 2-year deal, thereby maximizing his revenue. Love's agent would be a fool not to advise him to opt out - and it has nothing to do with him staying with the Cavaliers.

Are his numbers just fine for what we paid and are going to pay for him.. That's the question I actually asked. ;)
