@Cavatt

Games vs current over .500 playoff teams (25 games):

16.7 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.1 apg, 42.7% from the field, 40.1% from 3, 81.5% from the line, 34.4 minutes per game.

Games vs everyone else (35 games):

17.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 2.4 apg, 43.3% from the field, 32.9% from 3, 80% from the line, 34.4 minutes per game.

So pretty much the same stat line in the same amount of minutes, the same efficiency from the floor and the line, but a 7% increase from 3 point range. Kind of interesting to see that big of a difference from 3pt % vs good teams vs 3pt % from not-so-good teams, since you think better teams guard the 3 point line more efficiently.

This is very interesting. I figured there would be more of a difference. So, surprisingly he has been very consistent despite having lower overall numbers since last year. That is actually a really good sign. Maybe he has been more clutch with his 3's than I thought...

good work

Thanks. I love dissecting stats, mostly because I am heavily influenced by baseball statistics. Thinking I should do this for Kyrie too.

Love to Boston (or anywhere else) is not happening. He's staying here.

Love said something the other day about how, once LeBron reached out to him, that was it for deciding where to go to in the Minnesota trade.

Who is luring Love to Boston? Isaiah Thomas? lol

Keep dreaming Celtics and Pro Basketball Talk. That outlet, Pro Basketball Talk, is the same one that tried to come up with some silly scenario where the Love trade might not go through because of some supposed secret agreement.

We all know how that worked out.

Unlike its sister site, Pro Football Talk, Pro Basketball Talk is primarily an aggregator, and produces limited original material. The sourced story originated on Basketball Insiders.

On the larger point, because CLE chose to make the Wiggins trade knowing Love's contract status, once he opts out, he makes other teams targeting him in fee agency a reality. Cavs fans need to accept that while his leaving seems unlikely at this point, the probability IS NOT zero.

A team like BOS has young talent and significant assets available for immediate upgrades in addition to Love. It could be an attraction option for him for reasons as simple as ego--especially if CLE is able to secure a championship this year, thereby allowing him to satisfy in his own mind any moral commitments he may feel bind him further and/or his professional desire to become a champion.

IMO the best outcome for both parties is for Love to opt-in to his current contract, which he has already publicly stated he will do. My personal hope is that he is a man of his word.

Cleveland didn't just get Kevin Love in that trade. They also got Kevin Love's Bird Rights. Something they wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

So if it's $$ he wants, Cleveland can offer him the most.

Tonight's game is a primary example of why you max out a guy like Kevin Love and don't think twice.

On the road against the top team in the conference with your superstar struggling, you just knew a max player like Kevin Love would come through and step up his own effort to pick up the slack.

He's the league's most expensive 3rd option and tonight really showed why you pay it with a smile on your face.

You picked a weird night to say this…

14 points, 4-11, 8 rebounds.

Plus he let the Hawks' bigs beast on him and he only scored 4 points after the half.

We have completely went away from going to him in the post. Not exactly thrilled with it....
Have you seen Love in the post lately? He gets pushed around like a rag doll and more often than not ends up losing the ball. Him losing all that weight really did him a disservice because he was a lot more effective posting up last season.

Yes. He is being used more of a stretch four like a Mike Miller or Ryan Anderson than down low which is frustrating because the Hawks are a team which can be dominated down low. Same with LeBron. Both need to be closer to the basket than they are for the Cavs to win it. I mean, I don't mind Love stretching the floor ocassionally and shoot the three-ball but that should be his add-on not the primary role.

I don't know about the "we've been going away from him in the post" statement. I've seen him in the post plenty lately, and he seems to be missing a lot of easy bunnies right at the rim. Can't always shy away from blaming Love. Sometimes it's not Blatt's fault or Lebron's fault for Love's struggles...
