Right, analyzing LEBRON's (or Savannah's) instagram photos, during LEBRON's actual free agency, is equivalent to what is happening in this thread :chuckle:

I mean, if there was a picture on LOVE's instagram of him alone being all emo and shit, then maybe there would be cause for concern.
Yeah, it actually is. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Either analyzing instagram photos and drawing conclusions from them is silly, or it isn't. You can't pick and choose when it's convenient for you and supports your point.

LeBron is the leader of the team. LeBron practically is the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's not absurd for someone to comment on the fact that LeBron posts pictures of himself with Kendrick fucking Perkins and every other Cav...except Love. If there weren't literally a hurricane of rumors about Love being unhappy and pissed off, nobody would think twice. Correct assumption. Unfortunately, there are (true or not).

LeBron himself practically feeds this drama for Christ's sake, with his tweets and fit in or fit out or whatever the bullshit thing was a month ago that people freaked over. Why did he have to say that it was about Love? Was it really or did he just want to see some drama? Stupid to say the least.

Well I apologize for being unwilling to just completely throw context out the window.

I'm not even saying I totally disagree with your point of view. I'm just saying there are two sides to everything especially this. I wouldn't completely write off anything at this point especially after what we've been through as a franchise.

Fair enough. I don't think it's any guarantee he stays either. I think it's likely, but no certainty.

There might be a perception that he's struggling around the rim because he misses a bunny or two a game but's he's actually one of the most efficient postup players in the entire NBA. Only 13 players have attempted more postups this season and Love's .98 points per possession on such plays ties LaMarcus Aldridge for the best among the leaders.

Really makes me appreciate his all-around offensive game. Kevin Love is the only big in the entire league that can post up and draw fouls at similar rates to Dwight Howard and DeMarcus Cousins while also stepping out and draining threes.

Ok, so how do you reconcile the fact that everyone and their mothers are saying, and mostly agreeing, that Love isn't posting up enough and that he isn't being utilized correctly.

It seems to me that Love has gotten the ball in the post at 3 different points this season.

1. The first 20 or so games when the Cavs were struggling. 2. The games when Lebron was out, and 3? Today's game?

To me, during all 3 of those stretches he's looked uncomfortable, and downright awful at times around the rim. I don't think there's many people who watch the Cavs every game that would say Love has EVER been dominating or even above average effective there this season.

Is is possible, that because he hasn't posted up much this year, that the statistic you refer to is not helpful in this discussion because it's a way smaller sample size than for the other guys you mentioned? Rendering those stats basically anecdotal?

jesus this thread as devolved..

I am still interested to see what we here in the off-season regarding his back and how injured he actually has been this year.

I think everyone knows that Love isn't being posted up enough here, but most complaints stem from him not getting enough faceup touches at the elbow. Most first quarters he's given multiple opportunities on the block; it's not helpful that he's regularly uprooted by the time he's getting the ball because he's still the best entry passer on the team.

He's been plenty effective around the rim as well, he's still shooting 60% in the restricted area (slightly above his career-numbers in Minny.) It's not sexy, but Love's ability to draw fouls on a high percentage of his plays while rarely turning the ball over is what fuels his efficiency.

To illustrate this, I brought up DeMarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard before. Love (19.3%), Boogie (20.6%), and Howard (21.2%) all draw fouls at similarly high rates when posting up. But while Boogie (16.1%) and Dwight (17.3%) turn the ball over on almost a fifth of their postups, Love (7.4%) rarely coughs it up. So again, there's nothing sexy about not tossing away possessions on the block, but that's how Love's been highly efficient.

And the concern about the sample size is unwarranted to me; his 269 postups still places him among the top-15 players in the entire NBA sandwiched between Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki. Nothing anecdotal about this as well, I'm using NBA.com to pull these numbers. Any measure you want to use has Love as one of the most efficient postup players in the league.

New drinking game: From now on, everyone take a shot every time Kevin gets the ball at the elbow.

or a shot for everytime that Love IS NOT in a Lebron James instagram photo

or would that be too weird?

:chuckle:

Well damn! LeBron's last instagram photo was of his shoes...I guess he should somehow sneak Love into the photo next time :chuckle:

Love on Mike & Mike:

On his place on the team...
- Feels good. Been ups and downs but at the end of the day, they're winning and clinched a playoff spot already. It has been a lot of fun to be apart of.
Sitting on bench in the 4th qtr...
- Match-up based. Changes the dynamic of the game. Up to him to do what's best for the team and be a professional.
How do you keep a positive attitude...
- Knowing that it's for the greater good. Hosting the O'Brien trophy makes it all worth it. It has generally yielded positive results so he is okay with it.
How he feels physically...
- Feels great. Thinks the rest Blatt gives him (games off) will really pay dividends for a deep playoff run.
Is the schedule too compressed...
- Thinks more rest would be optimal. Fans pay money to see players and when they're given nights off, it hurts. Playing into July would be rough but it would benefit teams making playoff runs.
On pictures of teammates not including him and relationship with LeBron...
- It's fine. Don't hang out every day off the court but that's standard with NBA players. Relationship is evolving just like his relationship with every other player on the team. Thinks he'll be in the next Instagram picture :chuckle:
