I can see us beating chicago or milwaukee without Love, as we can move Lebron to the post at times. Its the JR suspension that has me concerned because we really dont have great options there. Harris is going to get some burn and Delly, But Shump will have to play starters minutes, and I worry his defensive intensity will fade. In any case we will need points from somewhere and that means Kyrie will have to step up..

I cannot believe that there was no foul called at all, and then no flagrant. Olnyk may not have intended to dislocate the arm, but the hold was certainly intentional and had the strong possibility of injury. The fact that is goes completely without consequence means that every bench player has an open season on the leagues stars..

The guy teared up a labrum. He got fully dislocated and they had to put it back.

I had the exact same injury and I can tell you guys don't have any hope he will be back this season. For one week you can barely move your arm and shoulder. For the first days you can't even lift a glass of water without getting killed in pain. You can't even walk without hurting a LOT.

And the labrum doesn't regenerate. It's 100% surgery for him.

He may actually try to come back, but in the first bump it will hurt like fuck and he won't be able to shoot the ball normally. And there's a huge risk it gets dislocated again. The pain is unbelievable.

So if this is the diagnosis I am 100% sure he's not coming back this season. Not a chance.

I think this Love less team is good enough to get to the Finals, in some hard fought series.

But to win the Finals is unlikely. It happens only if James Jones or Marion show everything they haven't shown yet and be forces for this team - they must be really influential on games. Not to fuck up is not enough.

So... I'm not very optimistic about chances of winning it all. They have become slim to me. But chances to reach Finals are still good.
Cavs winning Finals according to Vegas odds seem to disagree.

They did call a foul on Olynyk, a loose ball foul. What the travesty was though, was that they didn't even review it yet they stopped the game to look when Kyrie blocked Isaiah Thomas pretty cleanly.

I understand why they did, I'm pretty sure it happened after Perk laid out Crowder.

That said, the officiating this series was the worst that I have ever seen. If they called fouls they way they should have, I don't think Love gets hurt, Smith doesn't clock Crowder, and Perk doesn't have to retaliate.

The Cavs were forced into these actions because the refs wouldn't call the game fairly and let the Celts get away with murder. The Love injury was the last straw so they came out swinging.

The bad thing about this injury is, if you're rooting for 100% recovery, it's actually easier if he has a labrum tear.

If you read articles about shoulder instability, there's actually more risk involved for someone who dislocated their shoulder and stretches (not tears) their labrum. That's how you can develop a chronic shoulder problem, where it pops in and out regularly.

It sounds insane but apparently restitching the labrum to the shoulder is easier to fix than it just being stretched out.

In terms of doing no further damage, I still feel uneasy about that. We can't win the title without him at 100% IMO, so what is the point of risking his long term health to try to win a second or third round series? Maybe there's an argument to be made for him trying to give it a go in the the finals but given the the recovery time table, he's potentially putting the start of next season at risk.

Guess we'll wait and see but I would be over cautious. I know Kevin probably wants to play but him at 65-70% helps but only moderately. It's still unlikely to get us over the hump.

I've mentioned this elsewhere, even if K Love is limited to being a end of game/situational catch and shoot 3 type of guy, that IS worthwhile.

BREAKING: Kelly Olynyk has torn a torn labia.

(Has this joke been made yet? Too many new pages in this thread....)

This was posted earlier in this thread.

Could Love return before playoffs are over? It's possible, says doc

If he could give it a go for the ECF, provided we get there - that would be amazing energy and momentum. Would be unbelievable. I doubt it will happen, but you never know.

Odds are he's not going to be back until next season. You can't hurry Love.

You just have to wait.

Allow me to bring some good news.

Melo had played with a torn labrum during the 2013 playoffs as the #1 option. Sure his numbers declined, but still, he was playing with it during the playoffs. Love is our 3rd option, even if he's not 100%, just being on the court transforms the team.

It was just a light labrum tear though, right? He didn't have all the other injuries I believe. I think thats the difference.
