Did anybody catch on EPSN where - if I can recall correctly - LBJ referred to Kevin as a roll player?

:doh (31):

He also said that no one could fill the roll Kevin played, but guys needed to step up into their own rolls.

He also did refer to Kevin as one of the big 3.
Role*

Everyone on a team has a role, he wasn't calling him a role player.

This shit stinks. It's a pile of elephant dung and it radiates steam of pure skinkiness. This whole ordeal, nothing has been just or realistic. It's not right a non basketball play results in no Love and a slap on the wrist for the Celtics. It's not right it is more serious than we all thought. Just Love's demeanor after the game made me think he would try and come back.

It's not news he is probably done for the playoffs, he will more than likely try to give it a go if the doctors says go but it just sucks hearing it.

This team is not gone, what is odd is this may be a rallying cry. They might play better and looser without ALL the expectations. Granted, there are still expectations but less more with Love gone. They play play loose and not get tight in close games and help them along the way. They can win it all against anybody with the likes of James and Irving, but its a better shot if they get that far it's not GS or SA.

He said one of our "major role guys" "One of our big three". He came across to me as if talking about somebody who plays a major role on the team, one of the most important players not just a role player.

kanter had a similar injury, had surgery and was out 6+ months
In fairness, he had surgery. If he elected to not have surgery, there was talk of him maybe sneaking into a playoff series which was only ~3 weeks out from the injury.

I didn't hear the word "major". Either way....I'm just playing devil's advocate here lol.

Well, the player may certainly care if he loses that many game checks, and even 10 games can be important in terms of playoff seeding or even making the playoffs at all for a bubble team.

But one freaking game for a non-basketball injury play that does that much damage....whether he deliberately intended a major injury shouldn't be the prime focus. There needs to be a disincentive for the next guy who thinks about getting that rough so that the chance of a similar "unfortunate" injury to someone else is reduced.

But, it's Bahhhssssston. So no big deal.

It'd be better to have it be no suspension whatsoever or a much larger one.

Take a friend to the airport, don't ask for nor accept $5 in gas money. Bank the favor or be compensated just under the rate of an Uber driver. It's something like that, or not.

But seriously, no suspension indicates that it wasn't dirty. If that's how they saw it, fine. A monster suspension indicates it was dirty and takes into account the situation. What, exactly, does a 1 game suspension "say"?

He said you can't replace a "big role" guy. Not a role player like NBA people think of it. A guy that plays a big role.

He also compared the loss of Chris Bosh in 2012, and said losing Kevin is just as important to this team as Bosh was to that one.
