I don't think it's been said but no way we could possibly keep Smith Shump TT and Love. No way in hell. Smith will opt into his 7 mil. Shump is a RFA and for the life of me I could see a team throwing 8-10 at him. Love needs a max that starts at at least 17 mil, and TT needs at least 14 mil per.

J.R. would be crazy to opt-in. He'll be wanting paid and long-term. It will most likely be his last major contract. And he has earned it.

We can pay what we want to. Their our players. It's limited only by Dan's funds as we can go over the cap with our players, but at increasing huge penalties. Also, what ever happened to a player's discount for playing for a champion, like San Antonio's players (and other team's players) give?

That's the problem when all your best players are under 30. Young guys don't have to take pay cuts . Can't even ask them too. Now what would really help us is if Lebron took around 13 mil and if Andys deal could come down. Lebron by himself could get us at least Shumpert and Delly long term . But then again the way Lebron has played for this team I dare you to ask him to take a paycut. Dude deserves Kobe money 100%

We absolutely have enough money to bring back everyone next year and not worry about it.

We're going to be in the 100 million range (keeping everyone). The cap is projected to go to 89 in 2016-17 and could easily be north of that depending on revenues. Then by 2017-18, the cap is said to land anywhere from 100-110 million based on TV money.

For context, Golden state has 84 million committed next season and that's without a QO and extension for Green, who will be a max player. OKC is at 80 million and that's without a QO or extension for Kanter and then a big extension for KD the following season. It just costs money to have star players.

Financial decisions get tougher in 2016/17 but we can cross that bridge when we get there. We'll have more wiggle room via the increased cap but contracts like AV's will be a little tougher to swallow.

Weirdly enough, this draft of all things is pretty important. We really need to find a rotational guy this year who could be plugged in during 2016-17 at a low cap figure. Landing a good rotational piece on what will be an absurdly cheap rookie deal (when the cap jumps) is really important IMO given salary limitations past this year.

I had to rewind that to make sure I heard it right. Love will start, and we will find more minutes for Tristan come next year.

Odd man out will by Andy even with the 10 mill a year price tag. Andy becomes our David Lee. Capable high priced big that has allot of DNP's and only see's significant minutes if there is an injury.

With Andy's injury history, I'd be ok with sitting him until March, or playing him 10 minutes per game.

I mainly agree except its only 1 year and Gilbert has shown willing to pay the money. You Pay shump and TT what they deserve, max out Love, and hope JR Smith opts in our signs long term at 7 per, not more.

If this happens it is a huge luxury tax year, but a 100-110 mill cap is coming and we will have most of our players locked in long term. Then the 14 mill for TT, 9 mill for shump and 7 mill for JR don't seem like to much. Lets say the salary cap is 108 or so, that will put the luxury tax at 121 mill and apron around 125 mill.

What does this mean? Means we actually need to lock as many of the young pieces long term this summer and pay 40 mill or so in penalty so we don't need to be buyers in 2 years when a 120 mil payroll will be ok.

Personally I think the only one we don't get long term is Love who will be looking for a 1 year deal. all others will want their money now.
