Kobe just said it on Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia. he's in town for a basketball clinic and they asked him on camera about the AI trade situation.

"Id love to have AI on the Lakers. I want him. Everyone says there wouldnt be enough basketballs between us but i dont believe that. It would be terrific."

Highest scoring backcourt in NBA history? Jeez... interesting thought, two of the biggest ball hogs on the team... If they got 3 defensive beasts, then it would be an interesting team to watch.

They'd probably give up Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar... and probably auction off their future picks... but it seems like it would be well worth a shot, because the Lakers aren't going to go far in the West without a shake up, and neither are the 76ers...

i want you on my team, so does everybody else.

haha that song popped into my head when i read this topic.

They'd need a 25 year old Theo Ratliff..present day Ben Wallace and Mookie Blaylock to pull that off :chuckles:

How is Kobe a ball hog? He has always shown he is willing to share the ball if there is somebody on his team worthy of sharing the ballw ith.

Very pre-mature comment.

Kobe can have him.

In most cases, it is correct that taking it himself is the best option... he's one of the most prolific scorers in the history of the game... the best in the league last season. But basketball is a team sport.. It has been shown throughout history that you need a team effort to succeed.

Last season just exemplified what is a ball hog... one-on-one, sure you can take it... Double teamed, still going... Triple-teamed, still putting up the fadeaway. He's successful, but shooting sub .450 is extremely poor considering the amount of shots put up. You just have to defer the ball to your teammates, even if they're not doing spectacular... you're going to need them later when your fatigue increases... Compounded also is his criticism of teammates and swagger.. he just is not a very good one.

What is your definition of a ball hog?

He ball hogged last year? Maybe....but Id rather have a tired Kobe shooting than a Smush Parker shooting at any point during the game and I am sure that Phil Jackson relayed the same message.

For someone to be a ball hog, they have to continiously sp? do it. Kobe does shoot a lot, when you are the best player in the NBA, you tend to take more shots than the rest of the team, however.....you said you need to be a team player to be successfull. What do you call Kobe's three rings then?

property of shaq. kobe just gets to wear them.

Kobe won those rings, not Shaq.

Kobe and Shaq depended on each other.

Those rings are called Shaqpionship Rings...

Why ?

Who's to say Shaq could not have won titles in Orlando ?

You could have put any 2 guard that could drop 20 with the 1999-2000 Shaquille O'neal and would have most likely won the championship.

Maybe not early in his career, but if Shaq was with the Magic in the early 2000's the Magic would have been world champions... But McGrady with Shaq and they do the same thing in O-town..

Since the departure..

Shaq 1
Kobe 0

It's what Kobe wanted, and he got it :chuckles:
