He also completely lucked out on the Mavs low balling Brunson like they did...How did Leon Rose build a better team than Koby Altman?

The fit of the roster is not good and we're holding onto a bad coach and ruining development of young guys to do soMaybe I am just missing something but I think Koby altogether has done an above average job? I didn't love the Niang signing but I understood the why behind it. Craig Porter Jr and Emoni Bates seem like guys for next year to utilize. Then there is of course the Mitchell trade which, I would place as a positive.
He should be given at least another shot at next season. If the team fails to measure up after the moves he makes, you can consider moving away from him.

There are for sure mistakes
I think you can certainly take that tack with Okoro. Trading Allen and Garland for pieces that fit better around a superstar Altman acquired is a different story though. That's not an eval failure, that's a change in circumstances. It's more along the lines of David Griffin dealing for Kevin Love than just failing to develop guys. Also if you just look at it from a birdeye view, it doesn't even look good. Like if we trade away Garland and Allen then we spent years trying to develop players that weren't really part of our future or didn't pan out. 4 lottery picks and 3 later first picks plus years of tanking for just Mobley and Okoro (if we resign him). For me that's failed development and evaluation of prospects.
first off, we didn't draft allen, it was a shrewd move by koby to take allen from the nets and he went on to become an all star center here. garland is a different story, he was developing steadily, from worst player in the NBA by any metric, to an all-star. him being mentally zoned out and not a great fit to mitchell is a fit issue, not a development or drafting issue. Also if you just look at it from a birdeye view, it doesn't even look good. then there's mitchell, who is a legit star we either build upon (and trade away pieces that don't fit) or trade for other types of assets.
i don't see any failure here, just a failed experiment of two guards and two centers who's limit is a 2nd round exit.
i agree with you the team is at an inflection point. to me, the goal of the past years is to accumulate assets, regardless of fit. so they acquired allen for cheap, drafted what they think is the best prospect regardless of position. koby's background on real estate shows in his moves.I never said we drafted Allen, but there is still expectations that you develop a young player to a proper vision for the teams benefit when you bring them in. The organization spent years with an improper vision of what to build out or just not a true idea of what modern NBA basketball is.
It's been 6 years since LeBron left and we still don't have a roster that fits the modern NBA. There are a lot of failed experiments on Koby's record. There are only just a handful of real successful moves. At some point you just have to move on to get someone with an actual vision to build the team and just not experimenting to figure out how to zig when everyone else is zagging.
I think we are at an inflection point with enough trade assets to make a significant move to right the direction of the team. I just don't believe that Koby is the guy to right that ship because of what he has shown us in the last 7 seasons. The fit trades just aren't what Koby has done. The last year with Lebron was so terrible because the fit with both big trades were so bad.
Jalen Brunson with a one-word answer when asked if he would consider this season a success, given how they overcame injuries:"No."
/X
I wonder what Koby would say about the Cavs...
Also still to prove he can hire a good coachWe have to hope he is up to the task.
He certainly has to prove he can build a roster
of players who fit together on the court.
