Kyle Anderson putting up crazy stats

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Draft express last update was december 13th. they are a rumor mill. Or are you suggesting that they are behind on their research? How do you justify a bottom of the second round ranking for Anderson?

I don't think they are behind at all. Anderson hasn't done much to warrant a rise yet. He's done all of his damage against bottom feeders. The main knock on him is his lack of athleticism and speed which is something you can get away with against lower level teams.

If he continues his tear against higher quality teams he will begin to rise.

They are an evaluation site that does extensive scouting on their own. All of their work clearly shows this.

DraftExpress currently has him as the 25th pick in the second round. I'm sure his stock will rise into the 1st round if he keeps doing what he's doing, but it would be pretty surprising if he even ended up in the lottery.

Clearly, you are probably right. But clearly, Anderson is a clear talent who clearly dominates the box scores. Now clearly he's been doing it against sub par teams (as you clearly pointed out), but if he starts making it clear he can do it against the PAC-12, I think he'll clear himself of any sub1st round positions.

I think we're clear?

They aren't rumor site, bro. They do extensive video analysis, grading, and are one of the very few sites that openly uses sabermetrics/advanced stats as the top measuring device AND properly scout overseas.. Not going all fan boy, but I do know how hard it is to erase a stigma, and Givony has spent a long fucking time making that site the best public domain advanced stat basketball site around. In other words, he makes advanced stats look fun and important regarding prospects, which they are.

Anderson bottom of the 2nd is retarded, this much we agree, but they aren't a TMZ for sports. They do have mock drafts, top 100 rankings, NBA/NCAA/Overseas/High school analysis (if it were me, I'd tell them to stick to NCAA & Overseas, but whatever)

Clearly

Jumper still needs work but everything else says nba for Anderson.

I remember watching a game of his against Wiggins @ Huntington Prep in HS and he was handedly the best player on the court; his game is so, so smooth and refined for his age. His stock had taken a hit playing next to Shabazz on a very underwhelming UCLA team and probably felt that he needed the extra year to seal his place as a first rounder. Looking like it was a good decision.

edit: Still have the game saved -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keEGnzAhSgc

He's like a really tall sloth that's also really good at basketball. Does everything well but has zero athleticism.

Definitely one of my favorite/most intriguing prospects.

think his nickname is slo-mo

I wasn't impressed.

He seems to me to be equal parts big Andre Miller and skinny Boris Diaw. He's been able to show off his skillset much more with the ball in his hands (as opposed to Shabazz) this year. Love the way he changes speeds, just wish he had a speed faster than below average to go to. If he can develop a reliable 3 point shot he's definitely got a place in this league. Specially in today's league, one can never have enough high IQ floor spacers who always make the right pass.

Well, he has now played against better competition, and his numbers continue to amaze...15.5 pts/9 rbs/6.6 assists, plus 1.8 steals and .8 blocks in 32 minutes/game on 52% shooting (53% from 3). Still turning the ball over, but has an assist to turnover rate of more than 2:1. DX now has him at #40 overall.

Have we seen a player putting up numbers even close to Anderson from a major/power conference? How about someone with a comparable statistical profile who hasn't had at least some success in the NBA? These are just questions I am throwing out there.

My sense is that he isn't a Cavs type of player, and probably wouldn't fit their team as currently constructed anyway. But he is very intriguing.

EDIT: To answer my own question, a recent player with a similar college stat line and a similar game is Royce White (13.4 pts, 9 rbs, 5 assts, 53% shooting), but we know how that turned out.

Another potential recent comp I thought of is James Johnson from Wake, but he really didn't get nearly as many assists in college. Of course, he hasn't exactly had a resoundingly successful NBA career.

I really like Anderson, I was hoping he came out last year so he was there with the 2nd rounder that was used on Felix...I like the fact you could put him on ball in the half court and get both KI and Dion off ball at the same time, would be hell for the D because you wouldn't be able to double KI /Dion or cheat off either of them..
