Kyle Anderson putting up crazy stats

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anderson only fits with the Cavs if we make some drastic roster changes or if he finds a way to develop his off ball game between now and the draft.

Considering his off the ball game may be one of his top 3 attributes, let's try it again.

That said, even though I love Anderson, and even though your body text is 100% wrong, I kinda agree with the conclusion of your post. We already have Dion and Kyrie. This would make 3 guys who are really good w the ball in their hands. However, Anderson (as I mentioned above) is really, really good off the ball and does the pass out, vcut back to ball a lot (which means even though he's "slow", he's got quicks).

DX now has Anderson at #19. If the Cavs somehow manage to make it into the playoffs, they will draft 15th. So unless some team really likes him and drafts him far ahead of where he is now projected, the Cavs should be able to draft him regardless of how the season plays out.

I won't be putting too much stock into March draft ratings anytime soon.

Find it hard to believe his skill set and body transformation won't have him lurking up boards.

I didn't say he was bad off the ball, I said he needed to develop it further. With Kyrie, Dion, and Jack in the backcourt we need somebody who is an excellent off ball player, not just above average.

He makes some good cuts, but we need that plus the ability to come off screens, get open, and be a knockdown shooter.

Sorry, my post came off rather cunty.

Anderson comes off screens quite well but still relies on his size to shoot over defenders, which is completely natural. He improved his jump shot immensely from last year to now.

If he becomes a point in the NBA, fine. But he won't.

With Griffin in charge it's all but a certainty Anderson is the pick. He plays the kind of pace, and style Griffin covets, and is easily the most phoenix style player in the draft.

See if they keep the pick, but might as well go ahead and call it months in advance. I'll be very surprised if Griffin passes on Anderson. I'd say its a slam dunk. Feel free to type at me if i'm wrong.

I would absolutely not like Kyle Anderson. Have you actually seen him play? He's very slow footed for the position he'd play, and not overly strong. He is crafty with the ball and seems to have a high basketball IQ, yes. However, his lack of speed is a legitimate concern as to how his game will translate to the pros. I DO NOT think Kyle Anderson is the right pick for this team.

So you're saying he's a middle class man's Paul Pierce?

:hide:

Did the spurs really get Kyle Anderson? My god, the rich get richer.

I didn't have to high of expectations for him going into the draft but since he ended up with the Spurs he'll probably end up winning next year's finals MVP.

Honestly though, he seems like just the kind of player the Spurs would draft. I bet they were ecstatic he fell to them.

His biggest hole was he still needed to work on his shooting. and the spurs are the best team in the league at teaching shooting. Could be another kawhi. Be interesting if he manages to break 40% from 3 in the next few years. the rest of his game is nba ready.

They just got a guy to be boris diaw in a few years within their system

Ridiculous how the Spurs keep adding top-tier talents in spite of consistently picking at the tail end of the draft. I have no doubt they'll turn Anderson into a star.

We were three picks away! God damn spurs..

The pick reminded me of the Thunder getting Perry Jones at the 26th(?) pick, but this time they have a player with arguably better bball IQ and maturity. What a coup.

I was a fan of Anderson as well, but I'm sure we could have traded up if we really wanted him. Anderson to the Spurs wasn't a hard pick to predict if he was still there.
