Kyrie Irving

Considering the PG position is the deepest in the NBA you have top 5 A, top 5 B. Being just 22 and if you think he's in the B class then he will slowly make his push as he gets into his prime.

You cannot deny Kyrie is a top 5 scorer at his position. He's a top 5 ball handler at his position. He's not a top 5 passer because he has to share with LeBron. Lebron takes assists away from him to remove him from top 5 production.

And his defense has been fucking stellar this season. Matter fact, YES! YES! YES! He is top 5.

Steph Curry
Chris Paul
Russ Westbrook
John Wall
Kyrie Fucking Irving

Dame Lillard

You'd be amazed at what I can deny - and maybe we'll get back to that, but you didn't answer my question.

IMO it's not much of a question.... because it's already been answered. Kyrie was absolutely phenomenal this year, improving to a league-average defender while also shooting over 40% from deep for the first time in his career. The crazy finishes inside, the three-point barrages, the 4th quarter comebacks... this was the first year that it's not just Cleveland fans saying Kyrie is an elite point guard, it's the rest of the league.

Even Kyrie-haters were converting into fans this year, Bill Simmons wrote a glowing piece a month ago that has Kyrie as one of the ten most valuable players in the entire league. At what point have we seen enough? What does Kyrie have to do to make JonFromVA a believer?

JonFromVA, no one that has seen your act here would ever be amazed at what you can deny (or argue).

Really, no one should care about trying to convince him he's wrong, because you will never succeed - and who really gives a shit anyway.

Kyrie is not really a great passer at this point. I think he needs to develop a bit more so he can get to the point where he will pass up an OK shot, and instead feed a teammate for a great shot. But since he's basically playing shooting guard a lot of the time, while LeBron plays point, he's a pretty ideal fit with LeBron. I guess that makes him a bit of a non-prototypical point guard, but he's definitely been amazing this year.

If Kyrie goes off for 50+ a couple times he could get it. I can certainly imagine some scenarios where he could get it.
Any situation where he'll have to score 50+ for us is a bad sign. Honestly that's the only way he gets it over Bron and no way LeBron will take that much of a backseat to allow that

Nope. He voted last night and submitted his ballot.

Ok, yeah, if it's his personal opinion at this point, it probably is what he'll submit (or in this case, has submitted). :chuckle:

Just wanted to add that it's not the official NBA 3rd team...yet. ;)

I see people bringing that up a lot, and I disagree completely. Maybe not a great passer, but definitely a really good passer, and above average for a point guard.

If I had to make a list to of the top 10 BEST passers in the NBA at his position, I think he'd make the list. His actual passing has never been a weakness.

Kyrie can make some impressive passes, between the needle type ones. I've seen him do it. I just don't think he sees the game with the same vision, like a LeBron James, or a Chris Paul. His court vision isn't always great. He doesn't see an assist happening before a play has developed even close to a Wall, LB, and Chris Paul. That's just not who Kyrie is as a player.

He's a scorer, that's who he is, that's what he's meant to be. Nothing wrong with that.

He shouldn't have to change who he is, because he's not the traditional point guard a lot of people want him to be.

The guy still averaged 5 assists this year, on the same team as LeBron, and basically being the backup point guard, meaning running the offense when LB is on the bench. That's pretty good.

I don't really have any problem with Kyrie's passing, or heck, decision making when it comes to setting up others. I think it's actually improved a lot, even if the numbers don't always show it.

I think for Kyrie, he still suffers from tunnel vision on the floor. This is almost in all aspects. We see it when he goes to the hoop, he just doesn't have that sense all the time where the defense is, and just goes in irregardlessly.

It's a bit better, but still to me that's his biggest weakness I've seen from him.

Everything else from Kyrie has improved pretty significantly.

Yeah there’s no way it’s official. The deadline to submit ballots was only yesterday, I believe.

But kyrie is definitely deserving of All NBA 3rd team.

I agree it's not much of a question, but that doesn't explain why you haven't answered it.

Would you consider a rich man's Boobie Gibson to be a top-5 PG in the league?
