When dealing with an injury-plagued star like this, I guess this is what they feel they need to do so he can as healthy as possible come playoff time. Hopefully this time can lead them to find a good offensive game plan centering around LBJ and Love.

It's sad he's just 22, and we might have to do this with him already. That's not supposed to be the case, but might be true.

But the Cavs are known to be liars when it comes to player injuries.

I am fearful he had a setback (they claim he didn't), but it's ridiculous this was leaked in August, given the season is still so far away..

The Cavs want to rest LB, too, they can't do that with Kyrie out two months. That sounds pretty excessive when it comes to "taking it safe" with a player.

I think Kyrie had a setback, and the Cavs are just being mum about it.

Players that sit, rest due to injury for long periods of time don't come back in great shape, I'm expecting a mediocre throwaway season for Irving. You hear it all the time with pro athletes, injuries hurt me this season they affected my play, I'll come back better and put this behind and move on and be positive.

Sitting for 2 months of season on top of sitting since June and just coming back isn't going to go right. He's going to be rusty and may even pick up another injury. Everything is going to be out of sink concerning Kyrie, I'm no longer expecting a improved season. Just be apart of the finals is all I'm expecting now.

Well, we are going to have to ask ourselves if he's going to be healthy this year. This is a legit question to be asking.

The Cavs don't seem to think so, given they're willing to be this cautious with him, in August.

If you're thinking about sitting a guy, in August for two months into the season, you're not very confident about his health at all.

I agree 100% and I'm Kyrie's biggest fan on the site...

No way do I expect an improved season with the latest news...

Seriously I don't care if our big 3 sit out half the season and the team only wins 40 games,
Being very well rested and 100% healthy come playoff time should be the #1 priority for everybody in the organization this season, nothing else really mathers.

I want to see the 57pt Assassin version of Kyrie come playoff time, not the one legged exhausted and hobbled version.....

I disagree, you at least share that title with me. ;)

In all seriousness, we should be very concern about his health this year. We'll never get the truth from the Cavs, so you just almost have to assume it's not good at this point. I sure hope I'm wrong though. I am one of the first people to defend Kyrie at all costs.

I agree, I am not seriously worried about the first two months of the season. We'd be fine if we were without Kyrie, as a team. But that isn't even really the point.

The fact the Cavs are considering shutting him down, has to beg the question what is wrong with him? Is it something serious? Will it affect him the entire year?

All we're getting is the Cavs want to be cautious, but it sounds like BS to me.

If Kryie misses the potential 2 months, he'll miss 31 games, so having a 45-50 game season, (I'd imagine they rest him at the end) Cavs probably figure if they can chop 2 months off of Kyrie he would be at his best when they need him most. They're trying to eliminate the grind as much as possible, also making it easier for him, lighter schedules, lighter practice days, etc..

Ughh, the fans lose in all of this.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying we're not the title favorites; I'm saying we're not winning the regular season.

We'll still likely be #1 in the East, but definitely not overall - not with Kyrie out for months and James on limited minutes.

Tendinitis is a motherfucker. Just when you feel better, it creeps up again. I struggled with it in my achilles when I played football in high school. Lots of physical therapy and rest.

I think this is a really smart decision by the team, we all saw what happened last season when he played 75 games.

He was absolutely exhausted and broken down come playoff time, maybe his body can't yet handle the wear and tear and stress that a full nba season brings, In that case I think playing a shortened schedule and a lot less games can be perfect for him and ultimately the team.

The sky is not falling....

I remember us talking about how we thought he might not be ready for the start of the season back when he had surgery. Nobody was upset about it back then. Why now?

I am honestly not worried as long as he comes back fully healthy. Yes, he will be rusty in the first few months but by the time playoffs start, he will be back in his groove. Also, Its the East. We can be the eight seed and still obliterate any teams in the Conference because none of them is good enough to stop the Play-Offs Mode LeBron James.

Two positive things come out of it. Love will finally be the second option in the attack and possibly first at times when LeBron sits. This way, he gets more touches and that too in the spots he likes. He will be integrated into the offense more seamlessly. And secondly, our bench options and other key players like JR, Shump, Delly, Mo, Moz and TT will have more responsibility in the offense which should help them during the play-offs and the finals.
