I read that...you completely missed the point of what I was saying...guy can't even say its a certainty he is out opening night, yet casts a 2 month long window that he will be out? Smells like BS...guy isn't even in the city and hasn't been around the organization for a good bit of time...like I said, I'm going to wait and see before I panic like a sheep.

I don't disagree, I've said it's bullshit too. It makes no sense. Someone is lying.

I am just pointing out "toss up" is different from "chances are slim". His suppose sources sound like full of shit though.

How can his rehabilitation be going smoothly? Then.... Two months from now, before we're even into training camp, where he's well ahead of his projected recovery time frame, that the odds are "very slim" he'll be ready to go by opening night.

That's just preposterous in itself, let alone the speculated two extra months.

I don't necessarily believe it one way or the other. I just know someone is full of shit and maybe it's just Haynes.

Reason I said toss up is that if "chances are slim" right now on August 27th, they're going to be a lot better when October 27th comes around, barring injury.

He's coming off a significant injury. I always felt the nation that he'd be NBA ready health wise to go the end of October a bit overreaching. January makes sense.
The same for Love. He had a significant injury.
Bring them back by January, sit Lebron a couple weeks in February and get ready for the playoffs.

I missed the quote he had about Kyrie, given it was in July: Irving said, "I'm honestly not putting a date on anything. People are going to put a date regardless. I'm just continuing to be on the journey I've been on, and that's continuing to get better every single day and rehabbing my leg."

Doesn't sound like a guy with a set back. I never thought there was, or should be an exact time table on his return either. But obviously 3-4 months, to 7 is absurd.

Sounds like bullshit reporting by Haynes.

Lol, that's crazy, basically you want us to take off the entire regular season?

Even the Spurs wouldn't treat the regular season that careless.

"Kyrie Irving played basketball,
Then Kyrie Irving had a big fall.
All the Cavs' doctors and all the RN's
Couldn't put Kyrie together again."

I think a lot of this stems from the Cavs history of lying when it comes to the severity of player's injuries. See Shannon Brown's 2 month hidden bone bruise, Kyrie's injuries all playoffs, every season Varejao gets hurts, etc.

If we didn't have an organization that has established a pattern of blatant lies to it's fanbase, perhaps there wouldn't be such an issue in trusting Kyrie's diagnosis.

Knowing what we do about the organization and how they've traditionally handled injuries, Kyrie won't see the court at all next season.

Meh, not newsworthy. Could be out, doesn't say for sure out, withholding judgement for now.

I agree, that's why I worried it could be something worse, (and still do to some degree) given the Cavs don't tell the truth when it comes to injuries. They just don't.

Someone's lying here. It's either the Cavs, or Haynes sources are garbage, and he's just a click bait reporter. Neither one has a lot of integrity. Cavs when it comes to injuries, and Haynes period.

I am going to hopefully lean to Haynes is just full of shit. He quotes what Kyrie said in July. Doesn't sound like a guy with a setback. Nothing like "it's frustrating, or tough" Just him saying there's no time table, but he's getting better every day.

And look at Kyrie's timeline in August on twitter, he seems to be tweeting actively, and seems to be in good spirits. Doesn't sound like a guy with a setback.

I think he went cold turkey and didn't tweet at all well after his injury for a good reason. He seemed depressed, that was like one of his first tweets, how badly he missed playing.

Haynes is just a hack with no integrity.

Valid point. Haynes is a hack and more than likely posted this as clickbait.

It's just that the whole Kyrie situation was such a clusterfuck, I worry there was a lot more damage than they let on.

It's possible the Cavs leaked this as precaution, just because they're extra paranoid. I just don't know how they'd know this, unless there is a CLEAR and obvious setback he had. We aren't even in training camp.

Haynes is a terrible beat writer though. People give shit about Windy at times, but Windy looks like the Michael Jordan of beat coverage compared to this guy.

Anyone that quotes off the record comments from the locker room shouldn't have been able to keep his job. I'm beyond floored he managed to keep press credentials after that. That's not even taking into account where he tried to shape Dion to be a radical Muslim that hated America.

I am making the prediction Kyrie misses a week, maybe two at the most to start the season. And that's not because he's had a setback, but the Cavs being cautious. That's being cautious, 2 months means he's still injured and hasn't made great progress.

Until there's proof of some kind there was a setback, Haynes is full of shit, and a liar far as I'm concern.

Funny how we both basically agree about the entire situation, but both have different predictions.

I'm calling it now that Kyrie doesn't play a minute this season.

This reminds me of MJ breaking his foot when he was so young. It's most important to have their body 100% systemically restored.

Look at the bright side; what this will allow for is....

Mo Williams quickly hopping back into the saddle at PG.

He'll learn how to facilitate having Kevin Love, JR, RJ, TT and Mozgov now on the Cavs. This team is immediately better than any Cavs team Mo has ever dreamed of.

Most importantly, it's going to force Kevin Love and LeBron to fucking smash the league. They are capable.

Their personalities are naturally different, but a compromise needs to be struck, until they learn to play with each other with devastating result.

Have Kyrie inserted back in for the Christmas game against Golden State.

Fresh off a serious injury, Irving only needs to successfully play half a season + playoffs. That's realistic.

82 games + playoffs straight off an injury? Not so much.

Bron and Love, along with Mo are going to develop a scary rhythm; I can just see it now.

Irving can hop right back in. I actually think it will force Kyrie to adapt a role that doesn't come as naturally. If Ky can learn how to get open off the ball for the three point shot, he'll be invincible because all the other shit comes naturally to him.

Except defense. Lol. But he was notably better and put forth effort we never seen before.

Let Kyrie sit until he feels right. Mo, J.R. and Love are going to feast. This team is a lot deeper than people think, and they'll stay in the top half of the EC even with LeBron in Chill Mode.

Honestly, I'm a little worried about Kyrie due to his inability to (thus far) play an entire season injury free, but, provided Love stays healthy, the Cavs are still the best team in the East by far.
