Lebron at PG

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As discussed on the other thread, leBron will remain a perimeter player primarily. In saying that he should not be burdened with the point guard duties. He can certainly be the playmaker, buthe isn't the type of player to get us to run through our sets. Really Snow comes across as the only player who will stick with the offensive plays. LeBron for small patches at the point is fine, but not from the get go when teams are all over the ball handler. He is a turnover waiting to happen in those instances.

To me the Cavs are at there best when LeBron is in the post and D.Marshall is in the game.

Teams have to double and triple Bron in the post and he can find the open man and teams who have a goto post player are far better built for the playoffs then perimeter oriented teams.

Also if the Cavs were smart they would push hard for Mike James because hes just wasting away in Toronto and would be a perfect fit for a starting pg here!

If Snow is running our sets and the shots we've been for that last 6 or 7 games are the shots those sets are creating, we either need to change our playbook or Snow isn't doing a very good job.

I don't agree with Lebron being pressured into a lot of turnovers. His turnovers almost always happen in heavy traffic in the post. Coming up the court, most pgs are not going get a steal any easier from Lebron than from Jones or Snow.

On a complete side note: Jones needs to never, ever bring up the ball up the court then square up with the ball and take a three. He always misses when he is pushing the ball and tries to take the three. He always hits when he is set and his man leaves him to cover the open man. He needs to recieve the pass and hit it in rythme. He is deadly then.

Both Magic Johnson and Charles Barkley said yesterday that the Cavs problem was at PG...

They talked about Snow not being able to push the ball and play to what makes the Cavs strong...

Both said until the Cavs get a better PG in that lineup, they are going nowhere...

I agree...I would also add, if we don't get at least one interior defender... We go nowhere..

It's starting to become quite simple to see the weakness and what needs to be done around here..

Any chance we can get Chris Paul? JK He is untouchable, I definately want Earl Watson, he can shoot the three, from 35 feet. He can defend, doesn't turn the ball over and he doesn't force shots.

As for an interior defender I'd take Nazr Mohammed of the Spurs hands. Give em Drew and Sasha for him

No to Lebron at PG  We need his energy to go to defense, we can't saddle him with ballhandling duty as well.

He is close enough to the point guard in his role now, without having to guard people who are just too quick. Stick with the status quo on this issue.

Tyguy,
We must be watching different games. Lebron has no post moves, and most of the time when he posts up, he passes it off or misses a fadeaway. His strengths are his court vision and his quickness, both of which are useful at the point. Leave Z and Drew down low. Let Lebron run the point, draw double teams and find the open man.
So they double and triiple him, in the post even though he doesnt have any post moves? You know he can pass out of the past and is also too quick and strong to guard. So yes, leBron is too valuable of a guy in other areas, like posting up, To be used as a point guard.

If Ilgauskas were to go, I would keep Gooden. He is quick, athletic and can score. You trade Z only for a quicker C with some defensive inside presence.

Gooden has got to go...

I am starting to see a "lack of effort" from him... That is not a good sign..

Karma, this isn't a question of whom he'll guard on defense, it's about where he'll play on offense. Think of it as Lebron playing a point forward role like Scottie and Magic. He can still guard the opposing team's swingman if he's a point forward.
I say, just let him bring the ball up the floor. Pretty much everyone on here agrees we need a pg who can drive and create his own shot, because that causes defenses to break down and leave guys open looks. Let the offense go through Lebron every time down the floor, since he's definitely our best passer and has the best court vision.

We are seeing Lebron playing point-foward in the 4th quarter now. The past 2 games Snow has sat in the 4th while James handles the ball.

They are using Jones as a spot up shooter with limited ball handling duties and having Hughes defend the point guard or the shooting guard depending on which player is the better scorer.

I think this does 2 things that really have helped the Cavs. First Jones now has the freedom to find an open spot and wait for the pass that will come when James is doubled and without Damon having to initiate offense he can spend more energy on the defensive side of the ball. Amazingly enough he has looked damn near average playing defense the past two games and thats ten times better then normal.

I really like this offensive look that Mike Brown is using.

Agreed, I like it too. It's where the ball should be, anyway. Unless their backcourt is really firing us up, then I don't see why Snow needs to be in there in the 4th.
