LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Still to many minutes, am fine with Irving playing 40 but not James.

Agreed. It's been pretty much every game is the issue. If it's a short term thing as the team gets up to speed, fine but long term we need to get that number down.

I was really encouraged by LBJ's game tonight by the way. He showed some flashes of explosion, tomahawk dunk/some aggressive drives/transition push. Is he getting up like he used to or as explosive? Nope but if he can still be this good even without that, we will be fine regardless.

I agree, LeBron needs to be around 35 mpg. The Cavs have NOBODY to take the extra minutes from him.

He needs to play 35 min per game, but the problem is, the Cavs play inconsistent on both ends when LeBron isn't on the court. Kyrie is now playing better as a playmaker, but he's still not as good at running the offense as LeBron is. The team isn't discipline at playing well-round consistent basketball yet. They need LeBron's leadership, experience, and B-ball IQ night in and night out.

The Cavs need to get better on the defensive end, but as long as they continue to play piss poor defense, LeBron will have to shoulder some heavy loads even though he plays inconsistent defense, but it's more of him pacing himself and only shows up when he needs to make some key defensive plays for his team. I think he's saving his energy to play defense when it matters the most(post season), but the team desperately need him to start bringing the type of defensive impact he had in Miami, excluding last season. He needs to start covering for a lot of his teammates defensive liabilities.

If we could put some teams away I think Blatt would be less hesitant to take Lebron out. But everyone right now gets up to play the Cavs like its a playoff game.

How about we just sacrifice a win here and there? It won't be the death of the team. His minutes have to come down.

I'm still not overly concerned about the extended minutes LeBron is getting out there. Check out our top 3 minute eaters:

LeBron James = 40.4 MPG
Kyrie Irving = 40.0 MPG
Kevin Love = 37.9 MPG

Fourth is Andy at 27.6 MPG. While the discrepancy between 4th and the top 3 shouldn't be this large, it seems apparent that a conscious effort is being made to continue developing chemistry, moulding team cohesion between 'the big 3' and their supporting cast via the uses of extended minutes.

Given these stats, this tells me more about the efforts being made to integrate 'the big 3' successfully than it does provide concerns regarding LeBron playing 40 minutes a game (given that all 'the big 3' are almost playing over 38 minutes a game).

I'm confident as the season wears on and the confidence builds, we'll see these minutes shrink.

When we start putting teams down by 15 points, LeBron will get his rest, when we have a cushion of 10 or 15 wins, LeBron will start resting, for now, im completely for doing whatever it takes to win games and build chemistry. His minutes will come down when we start playing better.

Champ has to play big minutes in order for this team to win

They haven't shown to be what we thought they were

Blatt needs to start coaching
Players need to start playing

It's all based on lack of defense. The lack of rim protector is causing the defense to be poor....which then requires our offense to be great to win. If we can get a Mozgov type player Lebron can play less mins because we won't need to score 120 every game to win.

I agree with this but I think they're currently in a tough spot. With the exception of the Chicago and Denver games, the Cavs have trailed big at some point in every other game.

They have another tough opponent today in Atlanta. However, I think Blatt needs to suck it up and limit LeBron to 35 / 36 minutes tonight, max, regardless of the score. Players like Kyrie, Love, Waiters, Marion, Miller and Harris have to step up to make it happen.

Exactly, we can't use him as a crutch in the regular season.

I guess we'll get a clearer picture once the rotations are set in stone. Hopefully that comes within the next month or so.

The Cavs have played 7 games so far and had alot of time off between games...and with them trying to establish chemistry I have no problems with the minutes right now. BUT if this continues after like the 25th game than I will be concerned
