Maybe some of us did know that already. But considering that he's played more minutes at his age than anyone in NBA history, whether or not he'd "lost a step" is/was a legitimate concern. And when most of the season goes by and that step really does seem to be missing, it's fair to wonder whether or not he's just not quite the player he was.

His play in the playoffs has confirmed that he still has the ability to turn it up and be just as dominant. But the reality is that the year is going to come where he's not going to show it in the regular season, and it's not quite going to be there in the playoffs either. We just don't know when that is going to be.

It's not because fans who were concerned didn't understand that difference between the regular season and the playoffs.
