The most appropriate analogy would be I respect a newspaper reporter for writing an opinion piece contrary to an obvious jury outcome because he's had a long standing relationship to the DA and he gets unnamed sources that way.

He affects the perception viewers will have of the officiating on the game, but not the officiating or the actual play on the court. Are the players or coaches going to spend any time worrying about what JVG said on the broadcast?

Also, JVG is loyal to just Thibs, he actually hates the Bulls. Just recall the Bulls/Heat game this season when he spent basically 5 minutes ripping the Bulls FO. It's his thing, he's sticking up for his boy and it really isn't something to get riled up about.

Van Gundy ensured that the live play call will have to be replaced with the radio call.
