LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is it me or is the Jordan vs. Lebron discussion a bit premature? Lebron is still only 30 years old. There is the potential for another 4 or 5 Finals appearances at least. He should continue to be effective as he ages thanks to his size and court vision. At the end of his career, this comparison will be a lot more legitimate. Right now, I'm not sure it's worth discussing.
That. And plus it's just annoying me anyway. Let people talk all they want after his career is over, but I'm not sure why there is so much discussion when the only important thing is that Cleveland has a chance to win their first championship.

Somebody needs to make a separate LeBron v. Jordan thread at the least if they really want to discuss it so bad. I'm tired of this talk in here.

Honestly, I think I could make a really good argument for why LeBron is better than Jordan was. If he manages to win a title this year with this depleted team against the Golden State Warriors, who earned the sixth best record in NBA history this year, then I think people will have to start entertaining the argument.

Jordan played for a team that came within a bucket of the Eastern Conference finals the year after he retired. LeBron played for two teams that missed the playoffs the year after he left.....

That's one way to look at it. The other is that that team won 55 games and didn't make the Finals and the first full season Jordan came back they went from that (a good but not great team) to the greatest team of all time.

The next season they won 69 games and were arguably the second greatest team of all time. So let's be clear here. They didn't go from Really Good Contender to Championship caliber. They went from Really Good COntender to Greatest Team Ever. That's massive, massive leap.

They also added Dennis Rodman, who even though he's in the HOF now, is criminally underrated as a championship piece. One of the greatest rebounders and versatile defenders ever. And he played in the right era for his skill set, when spacing and shooting from the 4 wasn't as needed.

No they didn't. They overhauled the roster after 1993-94. Horace Grant left and joined the Magic. John Paxson and Bill Cartwright retired. They added Ron Harper. Then they lost in 95 and BJ Armstrong left. They then traded Will Perdue for Rodman straight up. Rodman was the key to that team.

If we win a title this year, which we clearly have the chance to do, there is no way we don't win next year. GSW might be depleted due to Green's situation, Chicago won't be that healthy again, and Pau another year older. Durant will be back, but with free agency looming, who knows what will happen (Dwight, CP3, Melo situation possibly).

Point is, LeBron's not done winning titles yet. He has at least 3 or 4 years of being a walking ECF. Then KI, and KL will be in their primes, and can carry a team. This team as is, has at least 5 years of title contention, we won't be constantly injured like this season and we will win some of them. 2 more titles, it becomes a real argument, 3 it's a wrap.

Uh, who are you, exactly? A mod?

Why the Dick like response? Simply giving my opinion.

Right, which is exactly what we're doing.

So you agree with me.

And there will never be another Wilt, or another Bill Russell, or Kareem, or Magic, or Bird, or MJ, or Kobe, or LBJ. Each is different in his own way. For that matter, there won't even be another Paul Mokeski.

Wilt, nor Russell, nor any other player has ever reached the global heights of Michael Jordan. Obviously my opinion, but his reach was further than any other basketball icon.

I thought we were talking about who is the better basketball player, not "marketing" and not "impact on society". If that's the issue, then doesn't TMZ have a website or something to discuss Taylor Swift and the Kardashians?

Jordan's impact went beyond basketball and blew open doors for ALL athletes; why limit a discussion of him? In terms of basketball, he was the greatest, IMO. But that's not disrespectful to LBJ.

Now that's probably Bill Russell.

that's your opinion; certainly not fact.

And neither will Russell's or Wilt's, or Larry's or Magic's.....
redundant

Nor is it disrespectful to MJ to give the proper respect to LBJ.

As for me, I wouldn't have made this argument last year. But to me, what LBJ has done this year in terms of elevating an entire team is unmatched. MJ's game did not elevate his teammates' game anything close to the same extent, and given that it's a team game, that should count for a lot.

LBJ doesn't need to be validated by attempting to discredit MJ. Different players, different times, different rules.
LBJ is a great. each person will have their opinion as to who is the "greatest". I throw my opinion out there; to me its Jordan, just like I think Montana was the greatest QB of all time. Its my opinion.
But the need to belittle either player is petty. Both are greats.

Man, this Jordan hyperbole is getting ridiculous.

There will also NEVER be another Lebron James. Do you know how much his presence alone has impacted the league? It's a massive ripple effect. The popularity of the NBA would have been quite significantly diminished if there was no LeBron in it the last decade.

Agreed. LBJ is great.

Anyone else wowed by this guy's continued athletic ability? He took off about a foot in from the free throw line on that breakaway, and it wasn't like it was fully open court - defender was with him until the end. Lot of talk earlier in the year about a decline in his explosiveness, but he's as athletic as any 30 year old I've seen.

Turns out there are 3 lebrons, chill mode, regular season and playoff beastmode

Well, if we had a game last night or tonight, sure. But we've got a week until the next game, so I don't see why stepping back and appreciating what LBJ has done this season, and what it says about his legacy, is so out of bounds.

What he's done this year is different from what he's done in the past. In the past, he was "just" the greatest player of his generation, but still basically just a player. But this elevating everyone around him, imprinting his will on the entire team, and building this incredible "family" vibe within the team is just remarkable to me.

In all seriousness, can you think of another player who has done something like this I'm basically half a season? I can't.

Maybe (probably) I'm just a sucker for this kind of thing, but his halftime goal of "let's make sure Joe Harris gets to play" is just leadership at an extraordinary level. If he cares that much for an end of the bench, second round draft pick rookie, then he cares that much for everyone on that team. And I'm sure they all got that message.

Coupled with his own extraordinary level of effort, that's the kind of leadership that makes guys run through brick walls. And based on the way they've been playing even prior to that, it must have been a message he (and probably the coach as well, but that's his job) has been sending this entire second half of the season.

Again I think that is just unprecedented coming from a superstar.

I'm surprised we all moved on from this after Shump's tweets, but anyone worried about the curse from Lil B? I know he said Shump was safe, but he says LeBron is at danger.....

"LeBron has a big problem," warned Lil B. "Stop stealing Lil B swag. I send major respect to Iman Shumpert for being truthful and brave enough to tell where he gets this swag in this sports celebration...the Lil B cooking dance. And I'm really trying to prevent the curse from happening to LeBron James. They need to talk to Lil B before the playoffs are over. And if they don't, LeBron James, you have problems."

Sure. Appreciate what LeBron has done this season. Just no need for constant comparisons to MJ. He's his own man. This is LeBron's thread. LeBron's time. MJ is irrelevant right now.

If Lil b curses the cavs...it's gonna turn into a miracle...as cavs already have a curse on them and 2 negatives turn into a positive

Curse is gonna backfire and hit the warriors...there I said it....lol like in Harry potter when voldemort tried curing Harry and it bounced back and hit him
