i said a couple years ago that if he ever came back i'd trade him to the worst team in a bad city to get him back, and that i'd lose respect for dan gilbert if he took hi back maybe his agent's line of think was along that? anyway, im still confused as to why he signed a 2 year deal with a 1 year opt out, and not just a year deal

It has to do with the NBA CBA. The money differences of early bird rights for a two year deal versus non bird rights of a one year deal. Anyways, read section 25 of the link below for more info...
