Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There's a lot wrong with this team right now, but I wouldn't put Mike Brown anywhere on the list of key problems. I get why he's a scapegoat. But to me there are bigger things that are contributing to a terrible start.

1) Incorporating Bynum. The players have said it in different ways for weeks. They are having to treat the games like practice while learning a new offense that is centered around a post player -- something the young guys haven't done before. On top of that, the post player isn't good. If you imagine what this team would look like if it ran its offense through Shaq right now -- when he's 40 -- that's pretty much what you're getting with Bynum. And instead of getting out and running with the young, quick guys you've drafted, we're in this bizarro world. I blame the front office. Instead of sticking with the game plan they tried for a cheat code to make the playoffs and that piece not only isn't good but it doesn't fit with the other pieces you already have.

2) The young guys. There's a lot of issues that go into this but two things stand out: Kyrie and Dion don't like each other. You would think after spending the summer playing together in USA basketball camps there would be stories about them bonding, spending time together, etc. Nope. Kyrie is the best player and Dion is an alpha. And it's obvious they can't stand each other. Feels like Ricky Davis/Lebron James all over again. Except in this instance, Ricky Davis was brought in to help LeBron. Not good. That's also on the front office. The other issue is Anthony Bennett. Whether it's conditioning, coming off injury, or being overwhelmed by the game, none of the answers are appealing. He's a train wreck at the moment.

3) The wing positions. Going by the league average, these are the two positions that produce the most points. For the Cavs, they are a total disaster on the starting unit -- a fact compounded by Kyrie and Dion not wanting to share the ball or the court. Karasev and Gee starting games with a 40-year-old Shaq? GTFO.

From where I'm sitting, the quickest fix is pulling the plug on the Bynum experiment. From there, it's about the young guys either figuring it out or one of them (Dion) getting shipped out.

Things I dislike:

The expectations of our off-season signings and the crushing reality of how pedestrian they actually were.

For me this one leads the way. Timing is everything...and I fear we jumped the gun (not dissimilar to the summer of Hughes, Jones, and Marshall). If we didn't have the added pressure of Gilbert demanding playoffs, these three signings, and Lebron's unrealistic return, we would have likely stayed patient.

I won't crucify MB here, but I would love if he had no choice but to run the wheels all our rookies and 2nd year players. Instead he has options, and you can see the stunted development because of it.

If we had a redo, i would have 1) traded up with our 2 seconds to take a flyer on Rudy Gobert; 2) i''d pass on Jack and Bynum (Clark signing as a Casspi replacement doesn't bother me), and save the cap space. I would have thought the signing of veteran presence would be beneficial, but we must have signed the wrong vets.

If we were running with all young dudes, a treasure chest of assets, and cap space, my perception of this year would be totally different.....in stead we are falling on our face, and it makes it even harder to watch.

We can still get some of this done. Try to trade Jack for nothing, and waive Bynum ASAP....give the young kids time to play. Losing is only terrible if we aren't doing it in the name of future development.

I completely agree with the Bynum experiment. Pull the plug on it already. Bynum is not the future of this franchise. If you're gonna put somebody in the post, force feed Bennett or Irving. Some TT people might take exception to that but everything he does is so mechanical. At least AB shows some fluidity to his offensive game and we must develop that for the future if nothing else this season. It doesn't look like we're winning now anyways so why waste a season trying to get Bynum reps when he's gonna get cut or traded eventually. It's just a complete clusterfuck at this point. Can someone in the organization tell us what the realistic goal is for this season? Cause if we're going all in for the 8th seed with this crap, it's not worth getting blown out by 50 and swept in the 1st round and we all can sit and watch Wiggins, Parker or Randle go somewhere else.

I hate Chris Grant. Failure to Address the Center position for 2 straight drafts with only Tyler fucking weak shit Zeller to show for it is infuriating. I don't care if we fucking drafted 2 centers in Jonas and Drummond in 2 straight drafts. One of them holds more value around the league than TT Waiters Bennett combined.

And now we're forced to depend on Bynum's knees

The main thing I hate is the complete lack of passion and effort this team is showing. If they were going out and losing in the last minute, that would still be disappointing, but not as concerning. Right now they don't even look like a team. Everything is so individual and it honestly looks like a group of punks at the gym who refuse to pass because they think they're the shit. Move the ball and there's a chance to turn it around but this selfish, effortless, hero ball isn't going to get it done.

Oh, and I hate Mike Brown.

I just want to be on record to say that I do not want us to trade Dion and if we do I think we'll regret it in a gigantic way.

So we're into year 4 of this rebuild and all we have to show for it are Kyrie, Dion, undetermined draft choices and about 13 JAGs.

This team is so poorly constructed it is laughable. Poor Dan Gilbert thought it was going to be easy. The reality is, the Lebron years have a good chance of being the best teams the Cavs will ever have.

I hope Kyrie gets out of his slump. I hope he stays. I hope we have a top 5 pick next year. I hope we make a trade. I hope we start to play defense.

Kyrie, Drummond, and Oladipo. Oh what could have been. Chris Grant should not make another draft pick for this team.

We are 1-8 with Bynum in the starting lineup but Mike Brown thinks Delly/Karasev/Clark/Gee/Miles/Dion combinations are the problem. I am convinced they promised Bynum a starting role for signing here. Complete disaster.

Fire the entire front office and coaching staff. Start a petition for Dan Gilbert to sell the team, after all - he's who hired the front office, who drafted the players and hired the coaches.

Burn down the Q. Leave it a burning ember as a reminder of the epic failure. Rebuild the Richfield Coliseum. Start anew.

I hate Mike Brown.

He's not the guy for this team anymore. He doesn't know how to develop young talented players, and get them to the next step. He's not the man for this job here.

It looks like we've regressed from last year. We need an offensive minded Coach that can fit the pieces together.

We have the only team in nba with starters who get backup minutes. If Bynum can only play 18 minutes, bring him off the bench. If you don't want delavadova in for 29 minutes, why the hell is he starting. If Andy forgot how to play during his injury, sure looks like it, start Zeller. I'm pretty sure Jarrett jack is one of Too Shorts kids, I've seen enough of him. Earl Clark is married to the baseline corner, move a little. Bennett gets a bad rap, the NBAs stance on traveling is ridiculous and Bennett is one of the few players that know it. Traveling in the NBA??? How the hell does a guy still travel.
