Maggette and Jackson want out of Golden State

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow... The ship isn't even halfway there yet it's already sinking? How the 1 hit wonder have fallen.

Ferry played with SJax and Brown has coached him. Problems seem to follow Jackson everywhere he goes. I don't think Ferry or Brown would want to risk destroying our team chemistry right now.

Cant wait to see who all is out for the cavs to pick at the deadline :)

I would've loved to have SJax before he signed that extention. Now his contract runs for like 5 more seasons and he'll be 35 at the end of it. Mike Brown seems to love him though he really talked SJax up during an interview before we played GS this season.

i don't want these guys. both have long contracts and jackson who would be probably be the better fit for us because of his defense is already 30 and has some injuries this year. also he has awful shooting percentages

Maggette I would agree with your opinion. I've heard very much different in regards to Stephen Jackson. Mike Brown has a great admiration and close friendship with him, and Jackson even has Brown as one of his kid's Godfather's I believe.

Wouldn't be surprised if we would, at least, explore what it might take to get Jackson here ... The contract could very well be seen as an issue, though ....

sure? even if he could be easy to get. he's 30 has 5 years left on his contract (bye bye chris bosh in 2010) and he shoots 0.378% from the field

I don't think Jackson would be a problem. He would be playing for a coach he likes, and he'll be on a good team.

I find the news about Maggette to be obvious, but the Captain Jack news absolutely shocking... Nellie defends S-Jax to the press after every 2-14 shooting night, saying "Jackson is just adjusting from being a second or third option to being the main guy." I know Jackson wanted to play for a contender, but the Warriors should be a contender next year. I thought Jackson must be frustrated, but I thought a trade demand would be out of the question. I like Jackson, but locking him up as long as Nellie is under contract seemed to indicate he was locked in with Nellie's system.

The Maggette deal was a bad match from the beginning... they got desperate after losing Baron and missing out on a last ditch effort for Brand. Maggette will be traded by the draft.

This. I was all for Jackson before he signed that extension, but now he's no longer a desired player to obtain. He's 30 years old, with a 5 year contract. Not exactly ideal, especially when we're trying to get younger, while maintaining cap flexibility.

Man it would be awesome to get Captain Jack here, and would've been a lot easier if he hadn't signed that huge contract. I'm sure ferry will at least look into it

The Warriors are stupid, they should have known something like this could've happened. Why give the guy such a huge extension...I was all for S-Jack before the season started, but his contract is way too long now.

What are the tradeoffs between Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace? Both seem to be fairly similar players, and both seem to be available?

They are both great defenders and primarily score off the drive. They are both subpar jumpshooters, which hurts our ability to spread the floor. Jackson is a slightly better 3PT shooter (.338 to .299), but neither are going to earn their money in that respect. Wallace is a much better rebounder, and Jackson is a much better passer. Wallace tends to be a generally more efficient scorer (TS% of 56.5 to 48.5 last year).

Wallace is 4 years younger and has one year less on his deal, but makes about a million more per year. Wallace also has a history of injury troubles.

That's what I see by glancing at them, based on the info, I'd prefer Wallace if both can be had for a similar price. What do yous see, and who would you take?
