Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Correct. I'm not worried about it right now, but he will be playing about 20 minutes per game throughout the playoffs. That is a lot of exposure, and it only takes one GM to overpay.

Do you think he'll be playing 20 min per game during the playoffs? i'd hope not more than 10, maybe 15 max depending on matchups...

Since the win streak started against the Lakers, he is averaging 17.4 minutes a game. He plays less minutes against teams that play a faster pace, more against half court teams. The playoffs usually slow down to more of a half court game. So, I'd say somewhere in the 15-20 minutes neighborhood is realistic. It really depends upon matchups and how much Marion has left in the tank.

Is there any chance that Blatt has been working JJ into the lineup to shave down Delly's minutes and make us even bigger? I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. LeBron can handle all of the backup PG duties, and JR and Shunpert can handle the 2 spot with ease.

I love Delly, but as long as Shupert & Smith are healthy & sane, they should be getting all the SG minutes in the playoffs while the game is remotely close. I think Delly should only get minutes when Kyrie sits, maybe 10-12 minutes a game. I hope to see him go in and pester the opposing back court into frustration techs, inflict turnovers when the other team tries to inbound, and force jump balls against 7' front court players.

Some people think Delly is maxed out with his ability and effort in the regular season. Cut the guy back to 10 minutes a game in the playoffs and we'll see him try to chew off people's knee caps through sheer will power.

They are 16-2 over the past 18 games with the current blueprint. If they play a team who is beating them because of length, you might try something like that... but Jones is a below average man defender on the perimeter. Up until recently his role might have involved slices of cucumbers over his eyelids and a footbath.

Yes, but a lot of that is garbage time. In close games in the playoffs, is he going to be in over Shump? Or JR? I don't see it.

I really think people are expecting too much from a guy like Delly. He's roughly the eighth best player on our team (ninth if Varejao is healthy). He's a role-player and he does a pretty good job of what he's asked to do, which is to play solid defense, shoot threes when he's open, and work within the offense. He's an undrafted sophomore who has held a spot in a contending team's rotation over several veteran players. He's never going to be a star, but he's not bad for the last guy in your rotation.

Plus he's the type of guy that teammates love. Good teams need guys like Delly who always play hard and lead by example.

Plus he hits MJ-like turnaround fadeaways.

Timing is VERY rough because this will be the most challenging stretch of the schedule. Shumpert and Delly will need to step up.
