Delly after the game today...

DELLY JOINS SHORT LIST OF POINTS LEADERS
i

In the last 20 years, the outright team leader in points in a series clinching game when never leading the team in points during a game in the regular season (via Elias):

  • (2015) Matthew Dellavedova - Cavaliers
  • (2007) Michael Finley - Spurs
  • (2001) Derek Fisher - Lakers
  • (2000) Clarence Weatherspoon - Heat
  • (1997) Matt Maloney - Rockets

I just don't know. Is Gilbert going to pay all these guys or extend contracts? My goodness. Where do you start?

Delly = got to pay him for a few years.
Shumpert = got to keep him which means big money.
JR = got to keep him which means big money.
TT Rodman = got to keep him which means bigger money.
Moz = got to keep him.
Love = got to keep him.

along with players already under large contracts;
LeBron
Kyrie

That's a whole lot of money to be paid out. I believe Gilbert will pay what it takes. I want JJ for at least one more year as well.

It amazing that the big worry during the season was "what if Kyrie goes down in the post-season and we only have Delly to replace him, we are screwed"

Yeah, not really.

Save it for the off-season, but I think we do need to imagine a world where Gilbert decides he doesn't feel like paying a bafillion dollars for all those guys and which guys need to be prioritized.

The owners are about to make a shitload of money with the new TV deal. He will pay.

See, the thing is...any decisions made now can be re-evaluated in two years when there's a lockout/strike. It makes more sense to spend recklessly right now knowing that the cap is about to jump forty million dollars and knowing that there's an impending lockout where the tax rules are almost destined to change. Also, lockouts always come with an amnesty clause, so today's bad contract is tomorrow's free roster cut.

LeBron and Gilbert will be on the same side of this lockout, too. That ain't nothing.

We need the rest big time, and players like Delly are the ones that wins rings... Incredible game. Golden State Cleveland I think are a lock...
