Mike Hargrove

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wedge just needs to go. I'm sick of him.

The Indians are not considered one of the worst run organizations in baseball by anybody outside of Cleveland.

With the exception of Cleveland, baseball circles hold Shapiro and company in the highest regard given their small-market stature.

The organization has been pretty innovative in terms of baseball trends (English classes, team psychologists for players).

They consistently produce one of the best minor league systems in baseball.

What they NEED, is somebody at the major league level who can take great prospects and turn them into great major leaguers....

Didn't the Tribe choke in both 2005 and 2007? Yep, sure did.

Anyway; while it's true we produce a very good minor league system, but to what end? Will you agree that many players have digressed over the last few years? Sizemore, Hafner, Francisco, Garko, Peralta, etc. Would you also agree that hafner has been used and abused to the detriment of himself? I do. He was handled very poorly. That's on Wedge and Shapiro. You don't keep playing with an injury in the hopes that it somehow improves things. Look at Sizemore right now? Is it best for him to be playing now, knowing that he is having surgery at the end of the year? NO WAY. Get it the heck fixed for crying out loud.

Too many things wedge has done that just seem to be not defendable at all. Why do we constantly pick up old pitchers who were deemed washed up by other teams? Why can't we call up the young pitchers like other teams do? The Reds never have a problem pitching 21 year olds, right? Other teams have no problem with it either. I just don't get it. I really don't.

As far as a new manager? I'd love Omar or Fryman or even Bobby Valentine.

So basically anybody from the glory days...or an old manager who was deemed washed up by another team?

Give me John Farrell and call it a day.

It's well known that the Indians historically have a great farm system. The problem is the Tribe is basically a farm system for every other team in the league. Look at all the talent we have produced and haven't been able to retain...Manny, Thome, Colon, Giles, Burnitz, Graves, Belle, Sexson, Brandon Phillips, Sabathia. That's just in the last decade! We're talking 9 all-stars and one likely future all-star. Name another team in the league who has produced and lost that much talent in 10 years.

Sure us being a small market team has a lot to do with it but the front office has to be blamed as well. They just never seem to get it right. Hart firing Hargrove was dumb. Shapiro giving big contracts to guys like Peralta and Wood was dumb. (I don't blame him for Hafner, nobody saw that coming). Hart and Shapiro need to be blamed for all these failures, not Wedge and definately not Hargrove.
