Mike Trivisonno Interview With Larry Dolan

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Umm, Nick Hagadone was regarded as one of their top prospects. Masterson just turned 24 and many viewed him as the eventual replacement for Smoltz. Now, they really don't have anyone to fill that void. Have you seen him pitch yet? he's been awesome.
And Price has been dominating. So while we didn't get Buchholz (who I'm not really that high on to begin with), we got 1 MLB ready guy, 1 very good prospect and one close to elite prospect in Hagadone...all of which are 24 or younger.

Put it like this: Does Buchholz > Masterson, Hagadone, Price?

Like I keep saying, Price was a throw in. He has really not pitched much at all, at this point he just plain needs work before we have any clue what he has a chance to be.

That said, NO, I'd rather have Masterson and Hagadone because you know I am not a fan of Buchholz. I know Hagadone has potentially dominating stuff and he is a big body on the mound, but I have yet to see him atop any prospect lists or really receive much attention at all. Which does not mean he isn't good, but if he was this "elite" talent I'd think we'd have known a lot more about him.

Moderator, can you change the title of this thread from "Larry" Dolan to "Paul" Dolan? Got my Dolan's mixed up. Thank you.

I was gonna point that out :chuckles:

As I've stated before in our Indians discussions, the inability of this front office to draft and develop minor league talent has been much more of a hindrance than the Dolans have.

Hell, the Indians began this year with the 14th highest payroll in MLB (the top half!) at 80M, which is plenty to for this market, and plenty to contend in the AL Central. Had Shapiro, Antonetti, and Atkins been able to draft at all, we would have been in this position we were in, needing to trade our stars for minor league talent to supplement the holes on our current roster.

Agreed entirely, however it's ridiculous to presume that the inability to keep your own superstars you develop does not affect the team much.

If the Indians were producing minor league talent capable of starting at the MLB level, they wouldn't be in a position to where they have to trade their superstars.

Because they would replace our stars that would be leaving, right?

I sure did sense that Wedge is GONZO after this season. If you paraphrased Dolan even a little bit right, that wording he used when asked about Wedge was damning. Drennen interviewed Dolan just a few days ago, and he did not word things like that in regards to Wedge. This tells me Wedge is bye-bye. He blamed him for the two years of "underachieving" and rightfully so.
