MLB 2024 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think you just believe Condon is more of a fit than he is no matter what, which is laughable to me.
I am not a scout and have no idea who will actually be a good major league player. I know Cleveland could use a RH power bat in their LH dominated lineup. I know people that purport to evaluate prospects for a living think Condon is an upper echelon major league prospect in this draft. I know those same scouts really like Bazzana too.

I want Cleveland to pick the guy that will be the best hitter for the next 10-12 years, even if he will likely go to NY or LA in 6 years for half a billion dollars.

You have said not only do you think Bazzana will be better--which is fine and you could very well be right--but that Condon isn't even going to make the major leagues--which seems absurd to me.

My favorite part is how you so incredibly wildly take my comments about Condon out of context. I mean that's next level mind blowing bad posting.

No, Condon isn't a ML fit here if he isn't the power hitter he's promised to be. That's the 100% correct take.

You have yet, not a single time once ever, have to yet to prove that incorrect. You have yet to show what he would bring to the table if he's not a power hitter. So you lose the right to tell me I have an absurd take.

Where do you put a slow footed, 20 HR guy hitting position player in both the field and the line up?

And again, if we need so much power, why not Caglianone? Handedness doesn't matter as much now with the 3 batter minimum rule.

You don't draft for need in baseball though. At least we haven't in my memory.

Correct, you draft the BPA of who you feel you can draft, but how many people, especially in Cleveland outside of hard-core fans actually ever paid attention to the draft? Casual fans are gonna want that guy who the team needs over anything else. Now, we have some people who prefer Condon's profile more as well on paper.

I feel like you don't like Condon a lot, and that's fair, but his profile on paper is a need and this organization has been trying to find a RH bat with pop...

This guy, regardless of how you feel, IF he hits well at the Cape Cod, it's going to be impossible to keep him out of the conversation especially with a roster that doesn't have someone with power from the right side

When you're talking about the first overall pick in the draft I don't think you can factor which side of the plate he hits from at all.

The way AZ said stuff was the issue... the first poster just doesn't believe Condon will be a legit big leaguer...
Everything else aside, if someone has the take "This guy who's in consideration to be the #1 overall pick isn't even going to be a legit big leaguer" then they have more explaining to do than someone who dismisses them.

I feel like you're projecting instead of reading the facts, I'm simply just stating both sides the coin to Condon because he's the big subject here, because everyone wants to scream how Bazzana "doesn't have a position" but were pretending Condon projects any better as a positional fielder. I'm just being a realist about Condon instead of pretending he's going to be a 40 HR .300 hitting more than serviceable outfielder, and bringing up Caglianone who's the best power hitting prospect in all of baseball the second he gets drafted.

This. Especially with the 3 batter minimum rule.

Worrying about handedness for 1 spot in the line up is out dated.

Which was done multiple times. Especially when the exact argument wasn't that he wasn't going to be a legit big leaguer. It wasn't even close to the statement that was made.

Hmm.. didn't you just write like two pages back.. what was it?

I disagree. You absolutely do take Bazzana if he projects to 12-15 home runs a year because you're still likley getting a good lead off hitter at the worst. With Condon you probably aren't getting a major leaguer.

Pretty black and white dude.

Pretty black and white dude.

Hey kiddo, since it's pretty black and white, why don't you also show the class the context of the conversation?

Go ahead. I'll wait patiently. Because if you're anywhere near as smart as you think you are, you'll show us where it's conversation about worse case scenario where his power doesn't translate, hence the key words in the that EXACT same paragraph about Bazzana "at his worst".

I'm just curious why you chose to ignore that undisputable fact? I mean, that is ALSO Pretty black and white dude.

Why are you trying to take things out of context and trying to create a gotcha moment that isn't there ?

Come on man. Do better.

Didn’t see rest of mlb pipeline top 10 released
Top 10:
1. Charlie Condon, OF/3B, Georgia
2. Travis Bazzana, 2B, Oregon State
3. Jac Caglianone, 1B/LHP, Florida
4. Nick Kurtz, 1B, Wake Forest
5. Braden Montgomery, OF, Texas A&M
6. Hagen Smith, LHP, Arkansas
7. Chase Burns, RHP, Wake Forest
8. JJ Wetherholt, SS/2B, West Virginia
9. Konnor Griffin, SS/OF, Jackson Prep (MS)
10. Bryce Rainer, SS, Harvard-Westlake HS (CA)

And, this was in the article “I think two-thirds of the teams would say Condon is the best player in this Draft, maybe more," a scouting official with a National League team said. "If you were including the guys at the top of last year's Draft, I think Wyatt Langford would still be the best guy. Langford might be a generational player and he's more explosive than Condon. But Condon is still a good athlete and they're pretty similar as hitters."

Hey toots. Your quote is your entire post, no poaching.

Why you so fired up?

But ok, I think I finally understand you now. Your problem is your writing.

Here:

It seems you're trying to say:
1. Bazzana's worst case is 12-15 homer leadoff hitter
2. Condon's worst case is him not being in the major leagues

What it actually sounds like:
1. Bazzana's worst case is 12-15 homer leadoff hitter (cool we're with you so far!)
2. Condon is not a future major leaguer (say what?)

Don't blame the reader for your poor sentence structure. Your other posts have been questionable too. That might lead to more misunderstandings. So maybe go back over what you write before you hit that send button. And consider taking a chill pill.

Let's compare this to the Browns in 2018. Right now, Condon and Bazzana are like the Sam Darnold/Josh Rosen, the consensus best guys to pick from. Who is the Baker Mayfield of this draft? The guy who fans can't stand, so they ignore him to play up other guys? Almost seems like Kurtz, although the dislike seems to be because he's limited to 1B and not because he acts like the average poster here. Who is the Josh Allen, the one everyone is certain will awful? Folks here are pretty generous, I can't recall any prospect really being hated on here. It's gonna be fun in future years to argue over how each guy does.
