The three largest loans handled by the Wall Street international bankers for German borrowers in the 1920s under the Dawes Plan were for the benefit of three German cartels which a few years later aided Hitler and the Nazis to power. American financiers were directly represented on the boards of two of these three German cartels.
German combines of I.G. Farben and Vereinigte Stahlwerke dominated the chemical and steel cartel system created by these loans. The two cartels produced 95 percent of German explosives in 1937-8 on the eve of World War II. The I. G. Farben-Standard Oil cooperation for production of synthetic oil from coal gave I. G. Farben a monopoly of German gasoline production during World War II.
Moreover, American assistance to Nazi war efforts extended into other areas. The two largest tank producers in Hitler's Germany were Opel, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors (controlled by the J.P. Morgan firm), and the Ford A. G. subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company of Detroit.
Alcoa and Dow Chemical worked closely with Nazi industry with numerous transfers of their domestic U.S. technology. Bendix Aviation, in which the General Motors firm had a major stock interest, supplied Siemens & Halske A. G. in Germany with data on automatic pilots and aircraft instruments. As late as 1940, Bendix Aviation supplied complete technical data to Robert Bosch for aircraft and diesel engine starters and received royalty payments in return.

WRONG. Read some history.
WWII is a great example. Canada entered the war voluntarily in 1939, as it understood the threat that Nazi Germany posed towards western civilization. Meanwhile, the U.S. turned the other cheek while its banking systems and corporations played a huge role in the rise of Nazi Germany. We then "sat out" the war for years while our bankers and corporations lined their pockets with dirty money.

WRONG. The U.S gave our allies supplies, tanks, guns, money etc.. read some history.
I'm not arguing the fact that the U.S. government was backing the allies with supplies behind the scenes before Pearl Harbor and our declaration of war. I AM arguing that we allowed the situation to grow as bad as it did in Germany on the premise of MAKING MONEY before we stepped in. We could have done more, sooner... and we didn't. We, as a country, profited from both sides. Canada, while much weaker, smaller, and less wealthy than us, has the distinction of saying that they at least stepped into the war on the "good guys" side from the start.
The statement made was that Canada hadn't contributed anything to the world. My response was simply to show an example of how they did contribute. In fact, for the first half of WWII, they reacted better than we did.
damn you gourimoko i read some of your posts and want to kill you, and read others and think youre awesome. my thought on healthcare is it has to start somewhere. i dont think 'obamacare' is a legit end game choice, however i do think it is a fantastic middle game, that ultimately pushes everyone to a public option.
my co-worker actually has an interesting idea is basically you get some many free public doctors visits a year (where as a referral is not considered multiple visits). After you go over that number of visits the price falls on yourself to pay, or conversely you can always do a private doctor. this keeps people from abusing the system but at the same time keeps options open to everyone.
I don't feel I'm entitled to healthcare, but I feel I should be able to purchase it. Just because I have spina bifida does that mean I should be blocked from buying my own plan of health coverage? Do you think the current system we are under where I am forced onto Medicaid and am only permitted to make 400 dollars a month makes sense?
