So bottom line, I parted ways with my company in July. Just wasn't a good fit for my skill set and the position I was holding. That said, every single position I have interviewed for (multiple interviews as well) have placed the jobs on hold due to the economic crisis.

I have 2 degrees, B.S. in Business Administration and my M.B.A from John Carroll, concentration in marketing/business development. If anyone has any potential contacts or jobs they may be aware of, I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks

I'm with you man, got laid off back in December of 07' and still haven't found a career job. I have done several things this year to keep me afloat but this economy and my location here in WV has really beat my ass. Just went for a second interview today only for them to tell me the girl I am up against has experience doing the same job at another company. He said he really liked me, very outgoing, and even if this doesn't pan out he wants me working there somehow. We'll see.

That's an impressive resume, I have a Digital Imaging B.A. and an ish load of student loans. Would love to get an MBA at some point but can't afford it quite yet. This job I just interviewed for provides that for free. I wish I could help you out and I'll be praying for you to find something. It's hard out there especially with a lot of us living in blue collar states that are harder hit then most.

Are you willing to move up north?

Yea. I worked for a start up for 1.5 years, built it from the ground up. But the owner wanted to deviate from the direction we put in place for my time there. Such is life working for an entrepreneur. Didn't work for 4 months, started working as a content ops. manager for a sports website/magazine. I stared at excel sheets every ****ing day, 9 hours/day, and developed databases for the company. Suffice to say, wasn't a good fit. Parted ways (mutual) in July and have been looking ever since.

I'm not sure where you're located but if you're in northeast ohio or the surrounding area you might want to try applying for jobs at Cleveland Clinic. There's a huge marketing/development department, and other technical and business related departments you could probably get into. A lot of people overlook hospitals because they don't have medical degrees but there's a lot of opportunities for people that don't have medical backgrounds.

Thanks, I was just going to mention that. I've worked here at the Clinic for going on 5 years now. I've worked in healthcare almost my entire career out of college (graduated in '98 from BG, MIS). The Clinic is always hiring and I'm sure there's a position out there that would match your skill set.

And people wonder why I was going to join the Freemasons until I found out about a member of our local lodge.

I want to join the freemasons, although this guy whos kid goes to pre school with my daughter is a freemason...what do you know about them? How hard is it to join?

From what I understand of it, it's not extremely difficult. Their motto is "to be one, just ask one"

You have to accept that there is a Supreme Being whether that's God, Allah, Flying Spaghetti Man, whatever. They don't care as long as you do.

It's supposed to be a group of brotherhood, and the secrets you learn aren't anything particularly insane, just handshakes, and some rites.

I had done my petition to get in, but then found out that the guy who got me fired from my last job was a member, and since you aren't supposed to join if you can't be brotherly, I withdrew my petition for acceptance.

For an organization that is supposed to be about "good people" they sure don't seem to pay much attention to who they let in. Though that could just be a case of my area being full of inbred hypocrites.

I suggest this website for you to find the lodge in your area, and which Secretary you need to contact.

I have a B.S. in Technology and now I'm starting the accelerated Nursing Program at Kent this Spring. I'll have a B.S.N. in a year or so. I think the healthcare field will be the only stable job market for the next serveral years. It's scary.

I couldn't find any kind of computer networking or technology jobs that paid well. I'm not really a stare at a computer type person all day anyway. I'm more of a people person. I just want a career where I can move anywhere, support a family, and have job security.
