camakazee- I guess he used to post on the cavs.com board, but I never bothered with it. All I knew was the guy churned out top-notch statistical breakdowns after every game this past season, and I personally nominated him for some recognition as one of our official bloggers. I didn't know a thing about the guy this time last year, but now his humor and stats are an integral part of RCF.
I used to post on realgm, never cavs.com, but I never posted a lot there anyway.
I started out doing some heavy duty lurking here, finally created an account, and lurked some more. And the truth is, going from a realgm or a cavs.com to this site, you have to sit out a few plays before you jump in. It's not disrespect to anyone intellectually (I'm a pretty smart dude and can hold down my own), but it's like practicing with the fifth grade then jumping into the Vegas Summer League. Even if you're a baller, you're going to be behind at first.
And that's what I suggest to the newer members. I finally created my account around the 2008 deadline and I mainly just looked at most of the news/opinions posted by others. I think I made like two posts in the huge free agency thread. One was passing along information by Chad Ford from a chat that day on the Cavs looking to make moves and the other was providing one or two sentences on why I liked the trade.
Now, contrast that with this past deadline. It was a complete mess. New members joining by the minute and every single one of them comes out blowing their post wad from the gate. No one wants to see these multiple one line posts that are either immature or incomplete in nature.
That's why you see such a resentment for a lot of the newer members by the so-called vets here. It's unfortunate when a well respected member provides an indepth paragraph describing the moves the Cavs should make, and it's almost immediately pushed two pages back because of several posts like...
- "DANNY SETTIN ON HIS HANDS AGAIN!"
- "God I just wish we would make a move already!"
- "If we get Bosh I'll jizz in my pants."
Like I said, it took me a while to realize quality is well received over quantity on this board, and that's what makes it so good. If you're joining at hectic times like deadlines, playoffs, or crucial moments of the season, take a while to enjoy the landscape and see what different members have to offer. If not and you continue posting habits that are well received on websites like realgm and cavs.com I guarantee you'll butt heads more than once. And no, it won't be just because you're new and the old boys club is out to get it you.
