New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watched the Flash yesterday and Arrow season 3 premiere tonight.

Arrow has really grown into a quality show. Hard to imagine given the whole CW thing but it really is an enjoyable watch.

Flash looks a bit more light-hearted which is reflective of the character. Together they will make a good contrast.

With the Flash hinting toward the Green Lantern and Arrow hinting toward the Atom, who knows how much this universe will expand..

Arrow is fantastic. I'm interested to see all the crossovers they will be doing with The Flash this season.

I'm also of the opinion that Gotham has been kinda disappointing so far, but I think it will pick up steam by the time the season is over. There's still plenty of villains to introduce, at least, although the young Penguin isn't exactly how I envisioned him. Just seems a bit... crazy. I think the portrayal of him in Arkham City was spot on, though, albeit he was older.

I really wish that, if they were going to do a Gotham series, they would have set it during the same time frame as the modern comics, where all the bad guys are already there. I think I said this before, but a show about the Gotham PD and how they function when Batman isn't around to bail them out would have been just as interesting if Batman existed and just wasn't a major part of the show than it is in this dumb prequel version. I just roll my eyes at all the time Jim Gordon is forced to spend with the kid versions of Catwoman and Bruce Wayne that could be better spent elsewhere.

And yeah, the Penguin on the show is stupid. I don't mind the character himself, but he's just not the Penguin. He honestly seems more like the Joker.

I also think the show will suffer from having too many episodes each year. Twenty-two is an absurd amount, especially for a show that should be focusing on each season having one major storyline rather than stand-alone episodes. There's going to end up being a ton of filler, which we can see already with episodes like the Balloon Man one that don't really move the needle much.

That was my exact thought on him the first time I saw him.

Funny coincidence/Easter egg about him, the actor that portrays Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) also portrayed Sam in The Walking Dead. Sam was with his girlfriend in season 4 when first encountered by Rick and Carol, and that episode ended with the girlfriend being eaten by walkers and Sam nowhere to be found... until the season 5 premier the other night, when he was the first one to get his throat slashed over the trough.

I think Gotham is a decent idea. But there are a couple issues:

1) Putting the show on Fox is just silly. As a result the show kind of drifts between this dark, intense version to this awkward light-humor version. Plus the kid versions of the criminals and batman is painful at times. I think this is a product of the show being on Fox at 8 pm. Just put it on HBO or something, get some intense versions of the Penguin, Riddler, and go to work.

2) The amount of easter eggs in this show is just insane. It is like the producers were like just throw everything you can in there to make people interested. It just feels forced. I'd rather they focus on one or two villains during a season. Maybe throw in references to a couple others but having all these characters just makes the show hard to keep track of.

Gotham could be an amazing show but the venue, casting, and design(having the main characters be kids) will prevent it from really growing into something more than average.

Sadly I am inclined to agree... I'm really hoping that it turns out to be good but thus far it's just been boring. I appreciate that they are trying to do a different take on it, it's just not a good one.

Absolutely agree. Arrow S3 premiere was a lot of fun. Really looking forward to this season. Emily Bett-Rickets who plays Felicity is fantastic.

Gotham has been a huge let-down as mentioned in the above posts. Absolutely nothing appealing so far. Feels like a 90s cop show, forced to play out in the backdrop of Gotham City. Does anyone else cringe at the selection of music to accentuate certain emotions? What's with the NCIS-like rock music?

I have no idea how it's been receiving overwhelming critical and social media praise.

I don't know why they can't just make a damn Batman TV show. He seems like the perfect TV show superhero, to be honest. He has no actual superpowers, so most of the show's effects and fighting can be practical rather than special. His enemies are all interesting and would work well on TV. There are plenty of great comic story lines that could be easily adapted, not to mention random Joker killing sprees that would always be interesting.

I just generally don't understand the need to keep all the best characters in the movies. A Batman show could make a killing on cable (or HBO/Showtime).

God, could you imagine a Batman show with an HBO budget???

Maybe I am just a dickbag but I think Gotham has been getting better. Not saying that it is a top of the line show, but it isn't terrible.

Scorpion for me has been okay. I can see myself getting bored with it after a while. I love the type of shows where they solve shit but something about it makes me feel it won't last too long.

I think Gotham is watchable. It's not great, but it's not awful. It just feels like it could be so much better, which is the problem.

I mean it's certainly not a bad show, I guess I was just hoping it would be so much more than it has been so far.

Admittedly, this week's episode has been the most engaging so far for me. Not as much cheesy 90s cop stuff going on.

And is the guy who writes this show also a lesbian porn producer on the side? After some research, it seems that Batwoman/Katherine Kane was a lesbian in the comics but why is Barbera Gordon gay as well? And on top of that, where'd Jada Pinkett Smith's lesbian make-out scene come from?

I gave up on Gotham. Just way too mediocre of a show to keep my interest.

Has anyone seen this? Worth buying for $5 or whatever it is? Was trying to find a *cough* download link *cough* to no success. Seems interesting though:
