Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn for Season 2 of True Detective
Sidenote to above post: Season 4 of The Wire was horrible.
I'm on Season 5 right now. Havent seen enough to form an opinion yet.Well, I could say that Season 5 wasn't much better.
Vince Vaughn? That's odd. They must know something, because that seems like an odd choice.
I made the mistake of trying to reread the Strain trilogy, and it all came flooding back.
Really, the strengths and weaknesses of the show and books are almost identical. The core vampire story is pretty good, and when the show/books concentrate on Setrakian, Fet, and that Hispanic gang-banger, it's good. They're good roles and I like the acting all around.
But whenever it dips into "human interest" or drama, it completely sucks. Ephraim is just as annoying in the books as he is on the show, so perhaps the acting is great because you hate him equally. His girlfriend is awful, and this weeks "drama" with the son and the senile lady just made me want to pour a can of gas on her and light up. Even Walder had a moment of terrible acting when he kind of went nuts trying to go after the Master there at the end.
I just thought it was incredibly boring. It was either about Littlefinger becoming Mayor, or the corner kids in their special class. Major yawns all around.Season four of The Wire was awful? What?!?!
I could see making that argument about season five, but the first four are all gold.
I am also kind of mad we haven't seen the "good" people who have already changed (don't think this deserves a spoiler, as it was a long time ago..) I saw at the end of last episode you see them in the "2 episodes left preview".
I have hope for this show so I hope in the 2nd season he takes advice from what we don't give a shit about and just make it an all around bad ass show.
Yeah, the "good" vampires are a very cool idea. It's that kind of stuff that makes you hang on even when Eph is acting like an idiot and the old lady makes you want to kill her.
I really can't fathom why someone would write a lead character like Eph. I get the idea of trying to write a "believable" hero rather than simply follow normal hero tropes, but he doesn't even come across as believable to me. It's like someone thought that giving him a backstory and emotions would make him more credible, but for a scientist, he's utterly capable of any objectivity at all.
And the whole idea of leaving the old lady with the kid, when the lady's own daughter could barely keep her calm, was just a cheap plot device that made no sense.
Has nothing to do with what you wrote but they also could have done a better job with The Master. He looks like a guy that would be dressed up at Halloweekends at Cedar Point.
Going to watch "Gotham" and "Scorpion" tonight. Really hope they will be good shows.
Gotham is the type of show that shouldn't be on FOX.
It was ok though.
Really interested to see what Netflix can do with Daredevil next year.
