Oden

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know what shoes22 is referring to specifically, but Oden has had micro-fracture surgery on both knees. That procedure is done when there's too much cartilage damage in the knee, in order to stimulate new cartilage growth. It has had very mixed results- some players can come back fine but many players have had their careers hampered or been forced to retire due to cartilage issues.

he has already recovered from this surgery on one knee and played at a very high level - he sat out a year, had a solid rookie season, and had a PER of 23.1 when he injured his second knee (23.1 would be be 2nd best center in the league this year). I understand that his recovery from that injury had setbacks, but I don't think there is any evidence that there is permanent structural damage and there has been plenty of time since the last surgery to allow for a full recovery.

I hope we get this deal done soon because I do not want Oden in Miami

Re: Oden (Cavs expected to offer contract after trade deadline)

Probably why we were reportedly interested in Bargnani.

Anyone got Kwame Brown's number?

I'm sure he has one of those Obamaphone's... I'd imagine Kwame spent all of his money already.

I really doubt that considering he is still in the NBA making 3 million this year with a player option for another 3 million next year.

Powell is a reputable source; longtime sports writer, including Newsday, nba.com, etc.

Found some sweet videos of Oden on youtube.

Waiting till the Summer just screams Miami to me, but we'll see.

Or it means he had no choice but to wait because no team offered him the contract that his agent wanted.

Wasn't Oden extremely foul prone even when he was able to play (he averaged something like 6.25 fouls per 36 minutes)? Despite his really good advanced metrics I think this really limited him: don't see that getting better after losing athleticism from all the injuries

I remember he fouled out of a Summer League game in his rookie year with Portland.

Ten fouls. In like, twenty minutes.

In 82 career games, he's averaging 6.4 fouls per 36. Though he does average 11.9 boards per 36.

He has 322 career fouls.

He has 290 career field goal makes.

He has 200 career assists + steals + blocks.

Yeah I wouldn't want to win a ring this year if I was Oden.

Maybe this is just me, but if I were a former top basketball prospect, I wouldn't want to join a contending team mid-season knowing I had no chance of actually playing this year just to get a ring I wouldn't actually do anything to earn.
