The Thor trailer is out!

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JOddp-nlNvQ?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JOddp-nlNvQ?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

As usual, the trailer looks good. And I'm sure as hell am going to keep my hopes up for this one.

And for those who haven't seen it yet,

The Green Lantern:

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f8ZPg8uaoR0?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/f8ZPg8uaoR0?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

This reminded me a lot of the animated The First Flight.

And a potential sleeper,

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/In-m2RJw3hE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/In-m2RJw3hE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Don't ever count Indiana Jones and James Bond out.

Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are producing. Exec producing are Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, who are already shepherding many of the DC movies, as well as Colin Wilson and DC's COO Geoff Johns.

Jesse Eisenberg, who was rumored to be involved with the movie, is not part of the official team, nor the official cast, according to sources. But that does not rule out a cameo appearance for him or other actors playing villains or heroes in the Warners' other DC-based movies.

"The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one," said Greg Silverman, president, creative development and worldwide production, in the announcement.

"David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote Training Day and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of longtime Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites: Margot, Jared, Jai and Cara," Silverman continued. "We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer's amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."

The movie has a release date of Aug. 5, 2016.

Thought on the casting?

Still think it's kinda strange considering The Joker isn't even apart of the Suicide Squad but for those that want an insight into a potential way Leto may play The Joker, check this video out:

I like!

Motherfuckin' Benedict Cumberbatch is scheduled to play Motherfucking Docter Strange, Motherfuckers. today is a good day.

Solid thread resurrection. The genre has become so much better in recent years.

I knew very little about Suicide Squad, but the concept is perfect for the director attached, who basically directs only movies exactly like this. Training Day with supervillains. End of Watch was solid too.

Marvel is so untouchable right now, that DC's gonna have to do something big. I know I'm late to the game, but I am just now finishing playing through the Arkham Batman game series, and I'm excited to see DC try to do something to match Marvel. Avengers and Guardians are so fantastic, it'd be great to have a greater pool of great superhero movies other than the chase-up duds DC has been putting out outside of the Nolan movies.

I think the catalyst for this film was the Suicide Squad's introduction in The CW's 'Arrow.' Along with Amanda Waller (the woman in charge of the Suicide Squad) they've provide solid transition to the introduction of a number of super villains into Arrow's DC Universe. Piggy backing off this, I honestly think this might be one of the more intriguing superhero films to date as it's going to a address each antagonist from a completely different perspective than ever before.

Plus, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn =

Oh.. my.. God..

Seeing as Tom Hardy is scheduled to be in it, you almost can't go wrong. That guy is killing it in everything he's in, and he's going to have a fucking amazing year in '15. Mad Max, Rocketman (biopic on Elton John), The Revenant, Legend.... so much acting goodness.

Maybe the Joker is in the film but not part of the squad itself? That was the case in the recent animated film about the Suicide Squad.

I'm not a fan of Will Smith as Deadshot (or at all, really), but other than that the casting seems pretty good.

I agree with Stereo though that Marvel is just so far ahead at this point that it's laughable. I also think DC just doesn't really have much of a plan in comparison. All of Marvel's films seem so well-planned and intermingled, but DC's just seem like they had no idea that they're supposed to exist in a universe with all the others (at least so far). Does this Suicide Squad movie take place in the same universe as the upcoming Batman/Superman movie, and does that mean Leto is our new Joker in everything? Does that Bat-Supes movie take place in the same universe as Nolan's Batman films, or are those being forgotten already?

I'm just not convinced that DC has a plan outside of "let's hope this doesn't tank like Green Lantern." I also read about how, after Green Lantern, DC issued a "no jokes" edict for all their future movies, which tells me that they didn't understand at all why Green Lantern failed. It didn't fail because there were lots of jokes. It failed because it was a stupid movie with bad writing, dumb jokes, and a villain that was basically just a cloud of smoke who got defeated in less than five minutes at the end of the film. If anything, Marvel has proven that jokes work really well in comic book movies when sprinkled in during tense moments or down time. Hell, even Nolan's Batman films had them, although they were always really contrived and forced in comparison.

Marvels plan is insanely tight. They just linked in gaurdians of the galaxy to Agents of shield, will link peggy carter into ant man and most likely use agents to link into both the netflix luke cage/daredevil and the inhumans movie. the only thing that stops them is sony and fox with xmen and spidey

Yeah I always thought it was just a huge slap in the face that they cast the perfect guy for Deadpool (Reynolds) in Origins and then took his mouth away. His line delivery is the thing that makes him so perfect for the role. That CGI short they made with him that released a while back was pretty awesome. If they do a Deadpool movie like that, it should be fine.
