Official Game of Thrones show thread

This thread seems like a good compromise, to be honest. We readers get our own thread where we don't have to use spoiler tags for fucking everything, but we can still interact with the illiterate masses and discuss the latest developments on the show. If we post spoilers in this thread (based on questions asked, of course), we spoiler tag them so non-readers can check them out at their own risk.

Everyone wins. I really don't see the fucking problem.

Agree completely with that. Show people shouldn't have their experience spoiled by a bunch of other posters preening about how much they know.

Man, sad that the Hound is dead. He was the man. Great episode glad to see Tywin get it.

Is he dead though? You assume that, but you never saw him die.

The Hound is dead.

Book Spoilers do not click unless you're caught up or don't care:

Sandor Clegane on the other hand ... *trollface*

The problem isn't that, it's that people come in and don't use the spoiler tags. Example: Oberyn

And we even got a Breaking Bad spoiler for shits and giggles.

Where is rikan and is he ever going to return to the show? If not what was even the point in their being a 5th stark child?

Didn't the Oberyn thing happen in the other thread, which always had a casual relationship with spoiler tags? Wasn't that basically the reason we started this thread?

I'm spoiler tagging this for obvious reasons, although it doesn't reveal any major plot points:

Rickon was not a POV character in the novels. Bran and Rickon split up at the end of book three, and we haven't seen Rickon in the two books since, although both books take place over the same time period so they're essentially one really big book. I do assume he will serve some sort of purpose later, but this being Martin, maybe he just dies a horrible death and is pointless.

The following has minor spoilers about where Rickon probably is in the books and who might be going to find him. The show very well might change these, as last we heard, Rickon and Osha were heading to Last Hearth, the home of Robb Stark's bannermen the Umbers. This did not happen in the books, as Osha never said where she was taking Rickon when they split up.

In the fifth book, Davos finds out that Osha has most likely taken Rickon to Skagos, an island off the coast of the North rumored to be inhabited by savages and cannibals, among other things. He is tasked by another character to go find Rickon, as he is the presumed heir to House Stark and, thus, could rally the North against the Boltons.

Is there any chance that book 6 might wrap up our TV story proper, whereas book 7/8 could be used as some sort of epilogue to be wrapped up in a movie. With as slow as this guy writes, if I were the show runners I'd want to strangle his pervert ass.

Considering that the last 2 books are supposed to be around ~1500 pages each, I doubt it. It is also looking like TWOW is going to be as action packed as ASOS was, which required two seasons anyway. I don't think a single movie, or even a trilogy could do it justice.

When GRRM talks number of pages, he's talking manuscript pages to his editor. A Storm of Swords was 1500 manuscript pages, which comes out to about 950 or so actual book pages. But that's almost the limit for publication, so if he goes much over that, it means two books.

So my predictions are as flows: Sansa turns evil (foreshadowing- her wearing black) and Bran Stark does as well. Jon Snow will most likely play the hero because the show loves underdogs for the most part.

If Tyrion somehow gets saved from his current predicament, I'd predict that Varys will have a hand in it somehow. Of course the Jaime might be involved but isn't Varys all about doing what is good for the realm? He helped Ned to some extent, maybe he'll be there for Tyrion too. I don't know why Varys seems to have been written off as a minor character this season when he was always a major player in the first 3.

Yeah! Although I was half-expecting Cersei and a couple Gold Cloaks to be waiting for Tyrion on the other side of the door when he opens it ready to murder the shit out of him for 'escaping', after all Cersei just banged Jaime again and there seemed to be a new understanding between them. :chuckles:

When Tyrion didn't go through the first time, I thought he suspected as much, I was kinda relieved that he just wanted to murder people first. I really don't have any ideas on what will happen with him now that he's on exile. He's not exactly someone who will try to form an army and ransack King's Landing but you'll never know. Maybe he finds a powerful ally? I just don't see him as someone who will stay away from the 'game', he said so himself when Shae was asking him to leave King's Landing. I hope he goes back to his quick-witted ready to play-for-power self, like when he was the hand of the king.

Book-reader question: Will Arya be able to find Jaqen and will he train her? It seems like all of the major 'quests' for main characters have been derailed by different events I won't be surprised if something else happens to Arya.

Nah. Jaime isn't a perfect person, but he does love his brother. He'd never sell him out like that, even for Cercei.

Let's just say that Varys has plans for Tyrion.

She will get trained, but not by Jaqen.
