What’s crazy is even though all the stuff mentioned is annoying, it’s still the best show on tv. George gave dan and Dave the plot points that his ending has. Dany will go mad queen in the books.

This entire season is not only not good for GoT level.

It's not good at all.

George RR Martin wins. More people will be buying the books whenever he finishes them. To find out how it really unfolds.

Even if this is the ending he really has.

It's not going to unfold this shitty.

Dany going mad isn't bad. It's how they've done it that sucks.

Who knows maybe Martin will just fucking change it too. Maybe he was just blowing smoke. He says one thing, then another.

I don't think he was blowing smoke, but the possibility that he changes his mind is very real. Maybe not on the biggest of the big stuff, but on the next tier.

I really hope he vets the next people that do the spin offs better.

Because DD did a great job conning him into thinking he'd do this series justice.

Well, in defense of D&D (I know....), GRRM himself hasn't been able to figure out in six years how to move his story on from ADWD. So expecting the showrunners to figure out how to resolve all those disparate plot threads GRRM created in a much shorter time period is asking a lot.

I'm not saying that as an excuse for some of the stupid decisions they made. My point is that it may be easier for them to write a more cohesive story when they're more involved in creating the details from the start, so they don't have to end up figuring out stuff on the fly with characters they didn't create - like what to do with Euron Greyjoy.

No I agree, but it's not even that. These guys can't write very well. They have no creativity in them.

No cohesiveness to storylines and characters. It's just not good writing. I never expected them to out do RR, but especially this season. And even season 7. This is just bad writing.

I think the Jaime stuff, the way Littlefinger and Varys both go out, and the lead-up to Dany's madness all will be pretty different in the books.

Those were the three (four?) biggest problems I've had with the last two seasons.

Littlefinger and Varys both went straight idiot mode despite being two of the smartest and most cunning guys in the world.

The Jaime stuff either needs to be completely different or explained way better for him going back to Cersei.

The Dany thing is going to happen - guaranteed - but we need more of a leadup. I'm fine with what went down, and I'm even on the side trying to defend the show in the leadup, but I need to start seeing signs of her snapping a lot sooner. Even if it's just for a split second or something at a time. I need to see cracks sooner.

It literally made no sense why she went 'mad' and started burning people in King's Landing.

I've heard some theories why. Like cleansing the city, blah, blah, blah...

But she's a foreign invader. And as Tyrion has tried telling her multiple times, you got to win over the Lord's of Westeros.

What she did, when there was no tactical advantage to do so, was just a huge and very stupid mistake by her. And frankly, one, that didn't even make sense.

It'd been better if there was some justified reason for doing what she did. Burning King's Landing. But there was NONE!

It felt out of left field, and its why a lot of us just think its jumping the shark television.

Just intimidating your way to power, and staying, just doesn't work. It didn't work for The Mad King.

And she seemingly understand that early on, but now just doesn't?

I'd bet a good-sized farm that all of those things would be different.

I'm not sure if the problem was the writing, the direction, or the acting. Or some combination of the three. Pretty much the only mood she ever showed was "cold/cool/rational", even when she was doing something stupid. The only real exception came at the very end. For example, when she killed the Tarlys there was no anger at all. It was just cold, and it didn't feel right even then.

On the flip side, I suppose there had to be some ambiguity in the way she was coming across or nobody at all would have stuck by her. She had to appear sufficiently sane/normal that it was credible people like Tyrion and Jon would still support her. So maybe it was a just a very fine line that at least some people didn't find persuasive.

Personally, I thought it was enough. But I know a lot of others didn't.

Obviously Varys sent scrolls out to the Lord's of Westeros who Jon really is.

The shit is going to hit the fan. The people, I expect, to 100% revolt against Dany as the ruler.

What lords of Westeros are even left at this point? You've got like three Starks, one Baratheon, one Lannister and a couple of Targs, and those numbers will inevitably be lowered a week from now. Everyone else is fucking dead. :chuckle:

Maybe from the major houses. There’s hundreds of lessers of course but yea. Lol

Well, the new Prince of Dorne was mention. The show runners just don't really take much time telling us much who is filling these Houses.

A lot of them are destroyed obviously.

Varys was sending those scrolls to someone. My guess the remaining Lord's.

Guys, there’s tons of lords. Varys could have warned dozens or even hundreds for all we know.

Although do you really doubt that D&D would create at least temporary replacements if that is what was needed? Of course, none of them should be able to make it to KL in the little time that has elapsed, but with teleportation....

I suppose Gendry could show up with whatever Stormlords might remain, plus Edmure Tully and the Riverlands, maybe the Vale, and perhaps even Dorne. Who knows what the hell is left of the Reach....

Anyway, there's not going to be a battle so I suppose it doesn't matter anyway. Either Danaerys leaves on her own, or she is killed and the Dothraki and UnSullied decide they're better off without her for whatever reason.

I forgot Edmure Tully was still alive. Apparently the showrunners did too.
