Official Ranking Thread .....

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
i got what i wanted out of this thread, for you big 10 floosies to recognize that the SEC is the superior conference and that the SEC is a force to be reckoned with year in and year out.

"A force to be reckoned with"??? So tell me, James... this "force to be reckoned with" of yours... this high and mighty SEC that strikes fear into the hearts of opposing conferences... if they're so daunting and dominating, how do you explain this:

In the past 7 years, the SEC and the Big Ten have met on the field 18 times. In those games, the head-to-head record is 9-9. That’s right, James, the high and mighty SEC and the lowly and pathetic Big Ten have played each other to a 9-9 tie - 9 wins apiece when teams from these two conferences face each other. It appears that your vaunted SEC isn’t so high and mighty after all, at least not when it has to play the Big Ten. Imagine that: A conference that is “a force to be reckoned with” having a .500 winning percentage against such a weak and sucky conference as the Big Ten. :owned:

I guess the Big Ten isn’t so horrible after all, is it, James? I mean, we’re good enough to beat you as often as you beat us. Oh wait, I forgot. You're the guy who likes to have an opinion about college football yet chooses to ignore relevant facts that would put that view in jeopardy of being exposed as laughable and inconsistent.

essentially the quality of those wins...the same overrated Michigan team that got embarrassed that year? Or the #2 Texas team that was playing with a true Freshman QB?

A redshirt Frosh QB, who happened to have a 160+ QB rating, and was a late injury away from having a better season than he had in 2008.

SEC is the superior conference this year, and has been since 2006. But from about 2000-2005, the SEC did jack squat, save letting LSU dodge USC and play Oklahoma at home. It's cyclical.

In fact, outside of Florida and Alabama, the rest of the SEC is pretty mediocre this year.

Damn, just amazing with all the stats previously ran off, why SC only have two freakin' national titles in that span. Always that average team that always seems to trip them up .... brutal.

Yeah, USC has been AWESOME during the time period in question. No doubt about it. And you don't realize just HOW good until you look at the comparative stats.

Yeah, Pete Carroll's undefeated in the month of November and that's when SC usually plays it's best ball .... no wonder he wants a playoff system .... play anyone, anytime, anywhere

Computers crunched the numbers, here is how the big 10 pans out.
#6Iowa Computers have them in 3rd. #1Florida .990 #2Alabama.950#3Iowa.940#4Cincinati.850
Coaches have them at #8 Press has them at #7

#13Penn State Computers have them #17 behind Wisconsin.
Coaches have them at #11 Press has them #13

#19Ohio State Computers have them #32 and I agree with that.
Coaches have them Tied #17(houston) Press has them #18 behind houston.

#21Wisconsin Computers have them in a tie for #14 with Utah and Arizona
Coaches have them #33 Press has them #39

The point is, Iowa is very close to Alabama in the computers, but the politics of voting and playing favorites pushes them down to #6 behind Texas, BSU, and Cinci, who have all had weaker schedules. With Alabama gettin .950 in the computers Iowa .940 Cinci .850 BSU .840 and Texas .800, it is not even close.

Its not like Iowa and Wisconsin are coming out of nowhere, they have both finished seasons in the top #10 this decade. But with the large computer gap between Iowa and the 3 teams ahead of it points to the flaws and politics that is college football.

To the SEC's credit, Florida and Alabama are 1 and 2, LSU comes up #7 in the computer, South Carolina #22 and both are a little underrated in the polls.

Pac 10 notables USC comes in #11 in the computer with Oregon at #9 and Arizona in a tie for #14. Yet again the voting polls reshuffle them to give #7USC #11Oregon #22Arizona. Any way you slice it, if you are looking for the 4th or 5th best conference, I would suggest you turn your eyes to the left coast.

ACC the computer has Georgia Tech at #10 Virginia Tech at #12 and Miami at #13, yet the polls make it flop giving Miami #10 G Tech #12 V Tech #14. Not a real strong showing, about on par with the Pac10 though, as far as the computer goes, not the voters.

I dont feel the need to mention the Big East, other then the Bearcats are trying to make a case for Cincinati to be reinstated into Ohio.

It should be noted that the Big 12 is wildly overrated. Texas, Computers #6 BSC#3, is respectable but over rated, only OK state #21 computers #15BCS and Kansas #33 computers #25BCS appear in the rankings. Actually if you go by the computers, thier showing in the 1st week of BSC is slightly worse then the Big East.

The only thing that sucks worse than the system are the stupid politicians who waste their time talking about it. I'm tired of these morons debating College Football. Let the conference commissioners and the NCAA deal with it. Government doesn't need to intervene with sports. They have more pressing issues to focus on.

The Computers have them at #1. Its not about who recruited the best, or who has the best coach, its about which team is having the best season. I think the AP and Coaches polls are more BS then the BCS rankings.
College football is going downhill, as they keep trying to use politics to eliminate teams from getting a chance to be the champion. First it was only 6 different conferences elligible, then it was only 4 conferences, now they are trying to get it to be only one conference is elligible, and a handful of other teams from different BSC conferences.
Iowa has had the hardest schedule up to this point, and have 8 wins. Preseason they shouldnt have been #1, and at the end of the season they probably shouldnt be #1, but right now, they have every bit as much a claim to #1 as anyone else.

Again, its not about the best team, its which team is having the best season.

If USC want to win the championship, then just dont lose to Washington. Its that easy. You cant ignore the fact that 4 out of the 5 computer polls have Iowa at #1, and the fifth has them at #4. LSU should be ahead of USC too, thier loss came to the #1 team, and they beat Washington.

Computer Rankings
1 Iowa 1.000
2 Florida 0.950
3 Alabama 0.940
4 TCU 0.850
5 Texas 0.790
6 Cincinati 0.770
7 Oregon 0.770
8 BSU 0.740
9 USC 0.720
10 LSU 0.700

Its ridiculous. It is the only sport where winning dosent matter. NCAA basketball, everyones invited to the dance. NCAA div II football, everyones invited. Pro sports, everyone has a chance. They dont give the Yankees the penant in April. Even though they put the most talent out there. They stilll keep track of the Rays wins, just incase. The NFL let the Cardinals and Eagles play for the NFC championship last year. But for colledge D1 football, you now need to be in the SEC, or be Texas, Oklahoma, USC, OSU, or Miami. I can concede that a 1 loss BCS conference team is just about as good as an unbeaten non BCS team, I will give you that. But Cincinati and Iowa are BCS schools, and if they run the table, then they should have a chance to be National Champions. Especially when the computers, who dont look at the names just at the numbers, cleary put them ahead of the other teams. Right now Texas is not even close in computer polls to Iowa.
