Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's hard for me to get a handle on if we really need it because our wings have been so pathetic at defending. I mean, I guess we obviously need a rim protector if our guys are just going to continually let perimeter players drive straight to the rim with no resistance.

If we make an honest defensive effort? I think TT and LeBron can at least provide enough help side to make it work. Is it ideal? No but if the collective effort continues to be what it is on that end of the floor, there's no silver bullet there from a personnel perspective. Straight line drives, right at anyone's bigs, are going to crush any team who doesn't have a Gobert (which isn't a realistic ask of Griff). The defensive stuff is on the guys we have IMO.

The one thing we desperately need is not even a backup PG at this point but a bench scorer. I'd be beating down Denver's door for someone like Barton (who's maybe an odd man out). Exhaust all assets we have left and just be done with it. Having scoriung juice in the second unit would mask a lot of our problems. Our biggest issue right now is that the entire bench is comprised of guys who need someone else to get them shots. Having another guy in that unit who can get his own offense would dramatically help IMO.

Now, as to wether we even make a move? Who knows. The team just needs to stay healthy and tread water at this point.

pls pls NO MORE OFFENSE until you figure out how to use Korver.

Point guard and I don't even care if he hits 3s anymore. Let him be capable of guarding the PnR one out of two times. That'd be a vast improvement over the current situation

Would you prefer that kind of point guard to an Andrew Bogut if given an ultimatum?

yeah, they need something to move LeBron off the ball and allow him to create off-the-ball. W/O another ballhandler, it's too easy to defense second team; and honestly don't think Griffin (or Lue perhaps) sees a use for a rim protector. and I think it can be argued if the guys play hard and with purpose they can make it work without a rim protecting big. But they do still need to add SOMEBODY big just as protection and minutes-soaking.

What do you think about Rajon Rondo?

Angry LeBron.

3. “We’re not better than last year, from a personnel standpoint … we’re a top-heavy team,” James said, adding a few minutes later, “I just hope that we’re not satisfied as an organization. I just hope we not satisfied. How hard it was to do that s---. I just hope we’re not satisfied.

4. Satisfied, in this instance, means satisfied breaking the city’s 52-year drought and winning one championship. That’s not enough. James wants more.

5. “I don’t got no time to waste,” he said. “I’ll be 33 in the winter and I ain’t got time to waste. That’s what I’m talking about. … When I feel like physically and mentally, me personally, can’t compete for a championship no more or I feel like I can’t do it, then I won’t have this problem. But until that happens, and it don’t seem like no time soon…” He didn’t finish the sentence. He didn’t have to.

8. When the team elected not to match Matthew Dellavedova’s four-year, $38 million offer from the Milwaukee Bucks, it created a gaping wound at backup point guard. The Cavs bet on Mo Williams as the backup, but his sudden retirement the day before training camp opened was a crushing blow. Williams debated all summer whether or not to retire, but the Cavs believed he finally settled on playing one more year. When he changed his mind yet again, it left them scrambling with no viable alternatives.

9. “We got f----- with that,” James said.

10. Tyronn Lue has been piecing together his rotation ever since, trying to bring along second-round pick Kay Felder slowly at times. But James made clear Monday he doesn’t believe Felder or DeAndre Liggins, both untested to this point, can be counted on in the postseason.

11. “No disrespect to DeAndre and to Kay, you think we can rely on them to help us win a playoff game right now?” James asked. “And it’s no disrespect to them. But it’s like, it’s not fair to them.”

Yeah this is the dark time of the season for sure.

He asked some real questions though, is the team satisfied with where they are at?

Lol. Who wants to argue Liggins should get a chance to prove himself in the playoffs again? Two things. That IS disrespectful for him to say. And two, of course we are a top heavy team. Don't like it? Take pay cuts.

What? If I had to make a list of this team’s most pressing needs right now, “bench scorer” wouldn’t even crack the top 5...

If the cavs want some bench scoring/playmaking then make kyrie or love come off the bench... That is the immediate solution imho.. Getting a rim protector even in the dleague would suffice.. Bogut cannot possibly want to play for cavs/with lbj..

Shump/korver/lbj/love/tt
Irving/liggins/rj/frye/??

I just think kyrie wouldnt want to come off the bench..

I still Shabazz Muhammad is the man I would get. He is in our range and makes smart plays. He may not be a play maker but realistically unless we trade away a major part who could we get? Boogie has become as willing of a passer as Love so no point there even though he is getting better they would offset each other. Shump is trying to be a play maker but it works like 30% of the time. Darren Collison right now is someone we could use. He has like around 7 assists a game and would be asked to score less here than is around 18 or so. I think he would be a perfect fit for the back up PG. As for a big well... If we get a wing and a solid back up PG can put Bron at the four again at will. Oh yeah JR SMITH IS VALUABLE TO THIS TEAM. Okay I am done.

I just again said like clockwork how do you feel about Muhammad and or Collison? I feel many people really still underrate JR Smith and no excuse but he is a spark plug on the floor. However Bogut, Collison, and or Muhammad or all three if humanly possible who would you take or want if we only can get two? Id only two of them what two would you take and why? To me Bogut and Collison. However there will be many big bodies out there eventually... They need to get a back up PG first and foremost in my opinion.

I know this has probably been said in ad nauseum but we are really missing JR's deffense and scoring out there. Hell just his deffense alone would be better than what we are getting.
