PSU always plays us tough, especially at their place, especially at night. :( If we do lose, the good news is with the way things are going this year we could actually end up still making the title game with one loss, as long as the loss is not too late.

Yep this game scares me, Penn State is always a hard game. We struggled with them last year at home. We lost in 2005 on the road. So long as we take care of the football and our defense is as dominant as always we should win this game. The offense's ability to take care of the football will probably be the deciding factor...which isn't a good thing.

I don't think we'd make the title game with a loss.

I'd require there being very few 1 loss teams. Which is what's looking like what will happen. When it's all said and done, you will be able to count the one loss teams from BCS conferences on one hand. If OSU is one of only 2 or 3 one loss teams, they'd have a great shot.

It would also require us winning convincingly the final three games. Narrow victories wouldn't cut it.

It's a little too late to lose now, it's better to lose early and win late than vice versa. We either win out or we don't get back in the Nat'l Championship.

Right now there are 14 teams with 0 or 1 losses from BCS conferences. More than I thought. Still, I bet you'll be able to count them on one hand before the bowls start. To be revisited later.

Why all this talk about losing? Positive thoughts people.

Sure Happy Valley sucks to play in, but we suck to play against.

Our defense can shut down any opponent. If we score a couple TD's then we win IMO, but thats why the game is played.

all the Buckeye fans I know are talking like they have alreayd lost...."I dont know happy Valley is a tough place to play blah blah blah"

take in to count 2 things for this game

#1 Buckeyes defense...They are dominating right now with no signs of slowing down

#2 Anthony Morelli... This kid actually is as STUPID as he looks...he is, has been and always will be AWFUL...especially going against such a good defense like in OSU's

No excuse for the buckeyes to lose this one...and all of the buckeyes are acting like PSU is suuuuch a tough game just so they can brag about what a big win it is after they destroy them

UM beat PSU with a Freshman QB who wasnt allowed to throw the ball...We ran Hart behind Jake long 100 times and even told them it was coming and they still didnt do anythign about it...if UM defense can shut PSU down then so can OSU's

in saying all of that this is by far your toughest game yet this season...not that that is saying much though

I hope the suckeyes win...I want them undefeated and #1 coming up to A2

all the Buckeye fans I know are talking like they have alreayd lost...."I dont know happy Valley is a tough place to play blah blah blah"

So...saying that it's a tough place to play..considering we lost our last game at their place is bad? But saying we're going to go in and curb kick them would be arrogant and also bad.

So how would you like us to act? I mean if we show them their due respect we're wrong..if we're overconfident and cocky that doesn't satisfy either..

Let me know how we should act then

he's just bitter that his team lost to APP STATE!

That Penn State crowd sure is quiet.

After tonight I finally feel like we deserve that #1 ranking. Wow are we good. You still cant run on our defense, Beanie runs people over, and Beockman looks as confidant as a 4 year starter.

Game Summary: http://www.bucknuts.com/news/story.php?article=2078

* Penn State (6-3, 3-3) was allowing just 279.5 yards per game coming in. Ohio State had 284 yards at halftime on its way to 455 yards total offense.

* The Buckeyes put together three touchdown drives of 80 yards or longer, moving 80, 91 and 87 yards for scores.

* Ohio State had one touchdown and another big play called back – one by penalty and the other on an overturned call by instant replay. Each time, OSU scored a backbreaking touchdown moments later.

* The Buckeyes were 10 of 13 on third-down conversions and they never punted.
That last bullet is just crazy.

Michigan beat Penn State. How good can they be?
Good point. :chuckles:

I know what you mean. We've been just destroying every one, but the schedule has not been exceptional. Last week I was saying if our defense could stop MSU, a legitimate offense, top 10 in the nation, we'd know they were for real. Well, they crushed them. This week we faced a legitimate defense, top 10 in the nation, and I wasn't saying anything. I just wanted a win. Well, the offense shredded them.

Seriously, what does this team not do well? I was concerned about the kicking game early in the year, but even that's tightened up and tonight our K hit a 50 yarder.

More impressive stats from the game summary I posted earlier:
* The touchdown drive by Penn State in the first quarter gave PSU a 7-3 lead. OSU found itself trailing for the first time since it fell behind Washington 7-3 at halftime – a span of 22 quarters over five-plus games.

That touchdown also marked the first points scored against the OSU defense in the first quarter this season. Akron had a safety for the only previous points scored against OSU in the first quarter.

* The Buckeyes have now won 27 consecutive regular season games, dating to the 2005 loss at Penn State. The previous school record for consecutive regular-season wins was 21, set from 1967-69.

* With this win, Ohio State tied the Big Ten record for consecutive conference wins with 19. That streak also dates to that 2005 loss at Penn State. Michigan set the record for consecutive conference wins with 19 from 1990-92.

Our first string defense has now given up just 2 touch downs in 9 games. It's going to be awfully hard to beat this team if your offense can't get in the end zone more than once. So far, most of our opponents haven't been able to do it even once a game, let alone more than that.

Bucket of Bullets: http://www.bucknuts.com/news/story.php?article=2085

Interesting tid bits from that article:
Todd Boeckman is has moved up to third in the nation in passing efficiency, behind only Tim Tebow of Florida and Sam Bradford of Oklahoma, two luminaries oft-mentioned for Heisman consideration. Todd is in front of all others including Brian Brohm, Dennis Dixon and Colt Brennan.

...

# Jim Tressel’s 71st win came in just his 85th game at Ohio State, thus becoming the fastest in Ohio State history to reach that mark. Others for comparison? Earle got to win #71 in seven more games. And Woody took an even 100 games to get there…
# Ohio State gave up 34 points in their last two games but only 13 by the defense, as the offense surrendered 14 against Michigan State and special teams gave up seven against PSU.
# Despite that spurt of opponent scoring, the Buckeyes are still #1 in the nation in scoring defense.
# This defense is also #1 in the nation in pass defense and total defense.
# On the other end of the spectrum, the Buckeyes are dead last in the nation in kickoff returns.
# Ohio State is now #1 in the BCS poll for a staggering 11 straight editions, shattering the old record of nine that was held by both USC and Oklahoma. Want to talk about the best in the nation? We win out and we will have been sitting on top of the world for two straight years and for every regular season week that the poll is issues.
# I think that Ohio State, Boston College and Hawaii now all share the “nation’s longest win streak” at nine.

as expected the Buckeyes beat a sorry ass Penn State team...Anthony Morelli blows!

I really want to see how you all do against Wisky cause they are somewhat of a similar team to UM

It will as always come down to the last weekend though...I got my tickets and Ill be there in A2...should be fun
