Browns Perrion Winfrey Faces Assault Charge in Texas, Allegedly Caused Woman Bodily Harm

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey has been arrested in Texas and charged with misdemeanor assault, allegedly causing bodily harm to a woman he was dating.

According to the information available, the woman, Brianna Mack, alleges that Winfrey knowingly and intentionally injured by pulling her with his hand. The crime would be a misdemeanor.​

The incident, if true, is troubling enough on its face. The larger problem for Winfrey is he has done nothing to shake the concerns teams had with him coming out of Oklahoma in the NFL Draft. Tabbed as immature, teammates wanted the coaching staff to send a message to Winfrey for showing up late to meetings and practice.​

Later in the year, Winfrey actually suffered a concussion while riding a scooter. ​

Sigh... this sucks, but feels inevitable. Hopefully Perrion can get past this and grow up--but I think everyone (including the organization) could see things like this coming.

Go find a 3-tech that can help show Perrion Winfrey the ropes a bit (and also take all of Winfrey's snaps when he inevitably needs to be disciplined).

If he gets consistent and puts in the work, Winfrey is absolutely a starting quality 3-tech. He showed up towards the end of last year.

I wouldn't bet on it happening. I think it's more likely he gets suspended by the team for conduct detrimental to the organization.

I'll never be happy with the defensive line. Like the offensive line, it can always be better, and I believe it's an area of compounding results rather than diminishing ones.

I think 007/Winfrey/Dalvin/Myles can be quite good.

I would prefer to have a reliable DT we can turn to if Winfrey's lack of discipline rears its ugly head again this year.

Calais Campbell would be my ideal FA acquisition.
