Playoff Positioning

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
BTW this is the second time in a row we go into Indy on the second night of a back to back while they did not play the night before.. if we do play them in the playoffs they won't have that sort of advantage.

This has been such a strange year with all these injuries.

It could very well end up that both conferences 8th seeds are worthy of top 3 seeds, if they had been healthy all year. Indy is the most dangerous potential first round opponent in the East, but George being rusty is a real factor.

As for GSW, nobody should he surprised if they lose in the first round to OKC. The West is a crap shoot. Hopefully we play Chicago in the second round, easy sweep there.

The 3 seed only has HCA in the 1st round.

Not if the 7 seed wins the first round. I would pick Indiana and Detroit over Toronto at this point. In fact, I'd take them over every team in the East field right now not named Atlanta and Cleveland.

Why are people so scared of Indiana? Even if George is back he's going to be rusty, and even fully healthy they don't scare me.

Because we got beat by them?

Talk about knee-jerk reactions off one game.

But, Indiana I think should make the playoffs. But seriously, they're no threat to us. That's absurd if anyone thinks they are. Come on, now.

I actually think Toronto might be the biggest threat to us. They get a bit underrated on this board, tbh.
I like their team. Good on every position + they have a solid bench. They have no "true superstar", but very well balanced scoring between Lowry, Demar, Johnson and Jonas.
They may have very little playoff experience but what probably 'scares' me the most, is their toughness and athleticism (which especially will be very valuable come playoff time).

As I mentioned before, I hope we finish second in the East. HCA could be one of the deciding factors in a potential series.

With the way we are playing non of this matters. If we are healthy we win the east period!

Indiana in a series doesn't concern me because (1) circus shots don't happen every game, especially three games in a row, and (2) Paul George returning from a serious leg injury without a season's worth of basketball conditioning vs. a LeBron with momentum isn't in Indiana's favor.
All 4 of our games vs Toronto this year are 2nd night of a B2B, although 2 of them are also B2B for Toronto.

No team in the east aside from Chicago is a threat to us and even they are a weak threat at best. With the hole center filled up with mozgov and Perkins I really think this team could win it all in year 1. There are no major weaknesses with this roster.

Toronto and Atlanta are pretends and aren't beating us in the playoffs.

Toronto is not a threat. They are basically the 09/10 Cavs without the superstar.

Their depth is overrated greatly, outside of Lou Williams, there is nobody on their bench that would get time for us. And just for kicks, also like the 2009 Cavs, they wasted all of their assets for team chemistry at the deadline.

We match up too well with Toronto to even worry. We literally win every matchup with them in the starting line. They got off to a quick start, and haven't completely fallen apart like Washington, but they haven't been great, despite having one of the easiest schedules in the league.

A free 16 wins from their divisional opponents.

It's not about being 'scared' of Indiana, in my case anyway. It's twofold: 1) I respect that they have a ton of playoff experience and won't be intimidated by the moment or the team they are playing. 2) While I can respect that fact I hate how they play - like physical bullies, but whine at EVERY DAMN CALL.. especially at home where the refs simply allow them to get away with more old man YMCA crap.

Do I think they have a real chance at beating the Cavs in a series? No. Do I think they will do their best to beat up on our guys and make the series a frustrating mess to watch? Absolutely.

And I still think they'd be a much stiffer challenge than Detroit. I feel they would certainly take a game or two, I think we would sweep the Pistons.

The only concern with Indy is they play such a physical style, we don't need that type of wear and tear on LBJ/Love/Kyrie.

I could just see Hibbert hammering our guys when they go down the lane or David West flagrant fouling Mozgov.

We don't need that type of drama in a first round matchup. I'd prefer someone quick and painless like MIL or really even MIA without C. Bosh.

Yup this is right on - I posted basically the same thing right after you. Not trying to deal with Indy getting home cooking and fouling so much the refs just stop calling it. Nor their flagrant foul tough guy act.
