I know a WR who could be available...

Can't imagine the Bengals would be stupid enough to trade him in-division, but I'd do it in a second if they were.

Oh there’s no way, I’m just trolling.

Still expect him to get WR1 money somewhere, but with extensions coming up within the next couple years for Burrow and Chase (among others) I can’t imagine he’s getting that money in Cinci.

I'd be okay with Wright being penciled in as the starting DE if it meant we had two really good DT's between him and Myles.
I think it's wishful thinking to think we get "2 really good DTs" in free agency, but we will see.

It would be nice to then add on and get a good edge, but if we only get three good defensive linemen, I'm more okay with a mediocre second edge than I am with a mediocre DT.
I don't disagree. But the difference is Alex Wright wasn't mediocre last year, he was awful just like the Winfrey, Elliott, and Togiai trio.

According to PFF, of 183 Edges with at least 25 snaps, Alex Wright ranks dead last. Not a victim of small sample size either with 543 snaps.

No Higgins...no Mixon...Burrow about to get a monster extension...I hope they're elite at drafting, cause the mythology of the Bengals may have been written too soon.

Half their starters on defense are Free Agents right now, too.

Will be very interesting to see what decisions they make.

Bengals fans for the most part are ready to move on from Mixon. RB room will start to get much less cap space allocated to it with needing to lock up Burrow, Chase, Wilson, and maybe Tee long term. Cap space is less of an issue than guaranteed money for the Bengals. They will have no problem shelling out guaranteed money to Burrow and Chase, but not sure what they will decide with Tee. He has the same agent as Watson, so probably looking at guarantees beyond what the Bengals are willing to pay. Same issues they ran into with Jessie Bates and why he is definitely going to be on another team next year.

Either way, I expect Tee to be in a Bengals uniform next year and then tagged the year after if an extension can't be reached. If they are able to retain Von Bell and Pratt at reasonable salaries and guarantees they should be back and probably will bring Apple back as a cheap backup corner. So really that defense will just be missing Bates and maybe Pratt. the year after is when more of the cupboard is bare for the Bengals defense with Awuzie, Reader, and the LB room becoming FA.

Bengals have drafted well the past few years and if that continues they can fill some holes that open up on defense. Biggest threat to there sustained success will be continuing to build up depth in the offensive line, which has plagued them immensely in their playoff losses. Next few years will tell us if the Bengals have really changed or continue with their standard operating procedure. As a Bengals fan I hope they can show that they have adjusted their off-season approach, but only time will tell.

Much like the Browns went and got offensive pieces to fit Stefanski’s philosophy in 2020, I want the same treatment shown to their new defensive coordinator.

Give me defensive lineman that can do what Schwartz does. That will unlock what could be the best defensive player in all of football on the edge.
