Pope Benedict XVI Says He Will Retire

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Heard about this prophecy back before 12/21... http://www.examiner.com/article/catholic-prophecy-the-final-pope-is-here

This will be the new Mayan Calender.

Approximately 900 years ago, Pope Innocent II summoned Saint Malachy, a popular archbishop, to Rome to update the Vatican on the status of Malachy's Northern Ireland diocese. Malachy made the arduous journey from Northern Ireland to Italy and gave his full report.

As he was leaving Rome to return to his church he had what he described as a “frenzied vision.” In this vision, Malachy was given the descriptive information of every pope that would ever exist, beginning with Pope Innocent II all the way to the final pope, Pope Petrus Romanus.

Malachy's vision tallied 112 popes, ending with Pope Petrus Romanus, and the current pope, Pope Benedict XVI, is number 111, which means there will only be one more pope.

Seems like everyone has an opinion about the Catholic Church. Obviously some people's prorogatives are in the wrong place, but the church is a playground for these sexual acts. I'd rather not simply turn this into a sexual assault thread, when this is such a big story for the Catholic Church. I think people expect better things from Catholic's because they feel they are arrogant or should be viewed as better. That's the sense I've gotten from people's opinion on Catholics. The entire idea of religion is a good thing and people should really stop being so insensitive towards it. It doesn't matter if you're Jewish, Catholic, or Muslim, all people have bad apples and good apples. The idea of religion is stronger than stereotypes and in my opinion should be treated that way.

Having been born and raised Catholic my entire life I can tell you there are a plethora of issues that devalue Catholicism, it's just that the pedophile priest issues are so horrific in nature that they tend to garner all the headlines. Of course there are plenty of good people, regardless of faith, but you will note that many negative opinions on the Catholic Church come from Catholics themselves. If you asked me the first 3 words that came to my mind with Catholicism, it would be God, hypocrisy, and education. 2 of those 3 are generally considered good, but that one in the middle carries all kinds of weight because of its broad sweeping effects on so many different ideals.

I still believe and value God, but I've learned to do it in my own way and have since realized my beliefs tend to touch upon many faiths. In the end, it's all about what is inside your heart, imo.

The Pope is a lot like the POTUSA. He's a puppet. A figurehead. And just like the POTUSA he should be held to higher principals, yet is often dragged down to lower levels by outsider influence. There is so much political overtone in the Church. The Pope is supposed to represent all that is sacred and holy and as doing God's will, according to Scripture, yet the position has devolved into something so much less than that.
