PRESIDENT OBAMA!

Just like it's important for me not to react too strongly to what I see in the first few games of a Cavs season, I am not going to react too strongly to the potential implications of an Obama presidency. I'll wait until he is in office for a little while, and makes some decisions, before I decide how my life will be impacted; just like I will wait until 15-20 games into the Cavs season to assess their direction.

For me personally, I couldn't foresee too many changes in my life with an Obama presidency or a McCain presidency. But that is due to where my life currently is, along with the lives of my close friends and family. Now don't get me wrong; I fully understand how the lives of others (including some people who I care deeply about) have the potential to be impacted a lot more than my own, in what they may perceive to be a positive or a negative way. And to that effect, I understand and respect who/why they voted the way they did. Too often during this campaign, I was bombarded with the message from both sides that "this guy is the only right choice." Well you know what? There were two correct choices in this election, depending on who you asked. It just so happens that the country was only able to give one answer.

Blaming Bush for this economic crisis is ludicrous when it is because "it happened on his watch"...it happened on McCain's and Obama's watch, too...as part of the Senate, they did absolutely nothing about it, either.

for that I will agree, the Senate has been ineffectual as well.

but the secretary of the Treasury is under the president, more oversight was needed long ago over the financial sector in regards to banking and the real estate industry which have been a mess.

i am also not to happy gas has jumped from 2.50 a gallon to 4.50 now back to 2.50, while Exon reports records profits while singing the blues they have no money to put back into infrastructure

safeguards need to be in place to avoid the rollercoaster ride our economy is on ,especially if its a function of greed and fiscal irresponsibility

if any thing thee last fe years has shewn us people have found inventive and sleazy ways of making a buck off their fellow man

Show me how he alienated thats sucha gimicky line what do you think Obama is going to come hold your hand and be your best friend now?

Please show me where we didn't sit down and try and work things out before we went to Iraq, via the UN . You suggest that America just goes around dropping Bombs. Im tired of morons speaking out of their asses and claiming we didn't try and solve Iraq using political talks and sanctions. Your just the next johnny come lately to try and suggest this complete falsification.

Don't be a bitter **** just because your right wing ideologue didn't pull it out due to his moronic selection of Palin and horrendous economic policies.

I don't think Obama is going to hold my hand you shithead. The either you're with us or against us propaganda bullshit spun by the RW has completely divided the country. How about Palin's "Rural america is real america" dangerous rhetoric.

Also, your sentence is retarded. Work on your grammar, douchebag

Hey Damage, you wrote the "B" in your avatar backwards.

I'm only going to say this once... I understand that politics are something that a lot of us are passionate about. But please be respectful and courteous of everyone's views here. You can disagree, but do not turn it into personal attacks.

A reminder:

● Respect – We require our members to show respect for others. Respecting their person, their time and their opinions – even if you disagree with them. Respect also includes respecting the right of the RCF administrators and moderators to make judgements and enforce these rules. After all, they are the ones that keep this place clean for you and easier to read.

All in all this election was going to be won by a democrait. You could of thrown anyone out there and they would of won. Didn't matter if it was Clinton Obama or some other joe. America wanted a change since the economy isn't doing to hot.

I'm iffy on Obama, although I
Love his speaches but he sounds too good to be true.

Just to lighten up the mood in here....

THE USGA WOULD LIKE TO INFORM ALL GOLFERS OF THE FOLLOWING RULES CHANGES:

There is a possibility of MAJOR rule changes to the game of golf, this may occur sometime after November 4.

This is only a preview as the complete rule book is being written now.

Here are a couple of basic changes.

Golfers with handicaps:

- below 10 will have their green fees increase by 35%

- between 11 and 18 will see no increase in green fees

- above 18 will play for free and even get a check from the club/course played

The $ amount put in for bets will be as follows:

-for handicaps below 10 an additional $10

-between 11 and 18 no additional amount

-above 18 you will receive the total amount in the pot and you do not even have to play.

The term "gimme putt" will be changed to "entitlement"

and will be used as follows:

-handicaps below 10, no entitlements

-handicaps above 11 to 17, entitlements for putter length putts

-handicaps above 18, if on green, no need to ever putt, just pick it up

These entitlements are intended to bring about fairness in scoring so that the final scores of all players will be about the same.

In addition, a Player will be limited to a max of one birdie and/or six pars, any excess must be given to those fellow players who have not yet scored a birdie or par. Only after all players have received a birdie or par from the player making the birdie or par, can that Player begin to count his score again.

The current USGA handicap system will be used for the above purposes but the term 'net score' will be available only for scoring those players with handicaps 18 and above.

This is intended to 'redistribute' the success of winning by making sure that in every competition the above 18 handicap players will post only 'net score' against every other player's gross score.

These new Rules are intended to CHANGE the game of golf. Golf must be about Fairness Only, it should have nothing to do with Ability.

Please don't take this seriously, I thought it was funny.

I got that email yesterday as well blueseats.

It's not up to the Secretary of Treasury to dictate free enterprise policy. The position is only responsible for securing that the amount of representative money that is released into the public can be backed by the physical reserves and to control the revenue of the federal government.

i am also not to happy gas has jumped from 2.50 a gallon to 4.50 now back to 2.50, while Exon reports records profits while singing the blues they have no money to put back into infrastructure

Again, it is not the US government's responsibility to dictate free enterprise. Should they investigate that there may have been some price gouging? Sure. But it won't prove anything, unless there was collusion by all the oil companies to drive up prices, and fall under the rules of a monopoly. It is a basic economic principle that, as demand increases, supply decreases, prices will go up. Does it make me happy? No. Is it their right to do so. Yes. You would do the same, or your business would fail.

safeguards need to be in place to avoid the rollercoaster ride our economy is on ,especially if its a function of greed and fiscal irresponsibility

There are safeguards in place. They are there to protect people's rights. Rights to make your own choices. Rights of the business owners to do business.

Consumers didn't have to accept the loan that was beyond their means. They could have gone elsewhere. Lenders didn't have to offer to very risky opportunities. They chose to do so. The point is that it was their choice. The fallout is that banks thought they could be predatory and make lots of money; instead it led to defaulted loans and them losing their asses. The borrowers, likewise, thought they could get something for nothing, and, it too, bit them. You reap what you sow.

The fundamentals of this country were based on the right to make a choice. That is why we go to great lengths to dispel monopolies (major sports aside, for some reason). You don't have to buy gas. You could walk, ride a bike, or use mass transit. There are alternatives.

As for the sleaziness, corruption and whatnot...that's been going on from ma's first independent thought. I'm not saying that it's right. Man has found inventive and sleazy ways to get itself to the top from day 1...it's part of evolution. Catholicism became a world power by using sleazy tactics. Not just a religious power...a world power. Islamic extremists are attempting to do the same. Israel is just trying to survive, but they do so by feeling that they are entitled to a piece of land that others also call home. The dawn of man brought about the thought of wanting to be superior...and by using whatever means are necessary to get there.

Some use money. Some use shrewd words. Some use brute force. It doesn't change the fact that the gentlemen running for leadership of this country do so not just because they want to help make fellow man equals; they do so because they want to hold the highest post in the world's greatest power. And they want to keep it that way.

As much as Obama says he wants to create a utopian playing field, that field is just for those below the positions of power. He has the power. I don't. You don't. Max does not. Damage does not. What Obama says holds more power than what any of us here will say. That's because he has the power. True equality is a myth. It goes against the basic instincts of man (alpha male) and nature (survival of the fittest). I doesn't exist anywhere in the animal kingdom on this planet. It is an ideal that we want to believe, but is impossible to achieve. True communism/Marxism was the closest ideology to come to this, but was proven not to work, as it was completely unattainable...man's basic instincts took over. Man has a hierarchy that it depends on and created to facilitate some sort of order.

The hope is that those who are in the upper levels will pull the lower levels up to them. The reality is that we accept those leaders as a means to survive as long as possible.

You may not be putting all of the blame on him, but most wrongfully do. The recessions would've happened under Al Gore too. 9/11, the housing crisis and credit crisis had nothing to do with Bush policies.

No they didn't, but Jimmy Carter wasn't the primary cause of the recession he was involved with either. It was the economists focusing too much on the Phillips curve, yet it kept shifting. Friedman, later theorized the phillips curve is just a line rather then a curve.

Any time the misery rate (unemployment+inflation) is above 10% the president usually goes...

Anyone who complains about high taxes, the marginal tax rate in the Great Depression was 98% for some people. One reason Reagon pretty much didn't make a ton of movies during that period.

Israel is our sole ally in a dangerously hostile region of the world.....

National Security has and always will be my #1 issue. The last time this nation fell asleep on it, over 3,000 people died. In regards to national security, I think more qualified candidate lost.

The media absolutely coddled Obama on national security during this election and never really pushed him on it. Obama has given no real answers as to how he would continue to keep this nation safe and how he would respond to a terrorist threat (Maybe the one thing the Bush administration excelled at). Until he is actually tested, I'm going to remain heavily skeptical.

Israel also has 60% of it's espionage units stationed in the US.

Your un-informed statements need to stop that was my point. Go read my threads about Palin, I never liked the choice. I don't need to work on a whitty come back for your personal attacks, just answer my questions. I just want you to support your statement.. can you do that? The answer is no, you can't, your statement was completly false, hence you having to handle your response like a child. How many years did we give diplomacy after desert storm? Who was the biggest country against finally taking military action and why? Come on Damage give me some credit here bro I am not bitter over the presidency at all, after watching all the mis-informed idiots getting interviewed over this election has made me bitter on the mis-information people believe on both sides.

This is a great moment in American history and regardless of your politics an historic moment that begins a new era.
I was hopeful some of the hate and division we've seen in this country could begin to subside but I'm not as sure after reading some of these posts. There are promising signs that this type of behavior and rhetoric was and will be rejected by many Americans, especially younger voters though.

Before some start bashing Obama and making plans in anticipation of things that may never happen and based on fear, lets's just wait and see and give the guy a chance.
In a 21st century world that is so interconnected and with a global economy the US place in the world, the opinion of other countries and our ability to work with them does matter. This has turned around greatly and improved immensely overnight.

Hopefully the attacks and bashing can stop, especially in Washington. There's too much at stake and too many problems to solve for that BS to continue.

It is nice that instead of anymore of Joe the "Plumber" we can now have Joe the Vice President.

In a word thats BS , there is no way to connect the vast fluctuation in gas prices to supply and demand . It was function of speculative trading on Wall Street and its effect on the economy as well as the average cost was significant.

If you think its that cut and dry you are beyond naive.

there needs to be regulation in place to save people from themselves.

when you see the effect of the lack of this regulation has had on the economy , yet still quote the "free trade" mantra . It beyond disturbing

worse there has been no accountability for what we have seen.

That is why we go to great lengths to dispel monopolies (major sports aside, for some reason). You don't have to buy gas. You could walk, ride a bike, or use mass transit. There are alternatives..

Yeah right you commute 60 miles to work and then have someone tell you about freedom of choice to bike after the oil companies double the price of gas . Get real

There are certain things that are necessities

I'll just wait when you are on the operating table and if the doctor asks you how much you are willing to pay for that life saving procedure

Luckily we are not to that point yet in our society, but the point is vaild.

also Google a cool movie calleed "repossesion mamba" that about that

As much as conservatives has made of any real or imagined of Obama's socialist rhetoric, the issiue is this. Some in the positions of power have neither shown the judgement nor the restraint to police themselves . The result of this lack of self-policing reportedly was nearly an economic crisis on the level of the great depression.

I for one would like to have a president that is more proactive and savvy to save our economy from economic collapse by having the safeguards in place so we won't have to rely on historic bailouts to avoid economic collapse
