I dunno if America is ready for a black female first lady in the White House, forget the name, and I think Hilary may have been flirting with plastic surgery, her smile seems fake, and McCain (sp?) he's old and white and sh!t, and I just dunno...
democracy is supposed to be about the people right? Just for vocabulary alone that should give an edge to the average voter, for the dems I mean, the average person dont give a sh!t about all the CNN political jargon IMO

It's interesting that right wingers criticize celebrities for supporting candidates or speaking out on issues but almost everytime a celebrity or former athlete runs for office it's as a Republican and there's no complaint about it then.
I think the country needs a President who can be a statesman and a leader rather than another insider politician. That hasn't worked too well in my lifetime.
People shouldn't buy the whole independent maverick label that gets pinned on McCain. It only applies to a handful of issues. If anyone supports McCain they should be willing to join the military or favor reinstituting the draft because this guy loves war and military is already at a breaking point due to the Iraq mess.
I also don't want to constantly hear about McCain's military service. I do respect it. Four years ago right wingers trashed and lied about a Presidential candidate who served in the military while supporting a President and Vice President who did all they could to get out of serving when it was their time. You can't have it both ways.
I'm not sure McCain really understands the Middle East. It's not the "they hate us for our freedom" BS we've been hearing for 7 years, it's they hate us for occupying their countries and installing leaders in that region over the years. Centuries old Sunni-Shiite disputes and rivalries aren't going to magically disapper. Unfortunately those in favor of invading Iraq lacked any sense of history or of the culture of the country. Now we're supporting financially and with weaponry local Sunni leaders. I wonder if we'll end of having to fight them in the future like we did after supporting Saddam Hussein in Iraq and the taliban and Bin Laden in Afghanistan. By the way both of those occurred under Rebublican Presidents in the 80's.
Al Qaida didn't exist in Iraq until we went there. It also appears all "terrorist" activity is labelled as All Qaida when much of it is native insurgency.
I'd also like him to explain just how does the "war on terror" get won? Do we kill one last terrorist in the mountains of Afghanistan and that's it, no more terrorism? Terrorism is a tactic and has been around for ever. Most of the rest of the world has been living with it for a long long time. It will never be defeated. This war is endless and can never be "won." It only benefits the defense industry and the politically well connected corporations. Like the ones who have recorded record profits the last 5 years through the privatization of government contracts that end up costing taxpayers more. This is the military industrial complex whose influence General Dwight Eisenhower warned about in his speech when leaving office almost 50 years ago. Dealing with terrorism is best handled mainly through intelligence and police work. Military intervention is a secondary factor in best dealing with it.
We do know that when one of the most important decisions of the last 20 years came up both the so called "experienced" candidates made the wrong choice while Obama turned out to be exactly right in the statements he made at that time. I'm referring to the horribly planned war based on lies in Iraq.
We also should recognize that if Obama gets elected the US image in the world immediately vastly improves after it has been destroyed the last 8 years. That sure makes it a hell of it lot easier to work with other countries a build real coalitions.
Some of our greatest leaders didn't have careers filled with "experience" before being elected President. Two of the most influential members of Bush's cabinet had careers filled with experience, Cheney and Rumsfeld. That didn't turn out too well and their expert advice and experience were highly damaging to Bush's Presidency. Wisdom and an understanding of the world today are much more important. Obama seems to demonstrate that much more.
I know many don't like to think it but the US is a liberal country on most issues. The whole idea behind the ideals and freedoms of this country are liberal. Why not have a new leader who leans to the left? We've seen how the right who hate government, claim it doesn't work, then get elected and prove that point.
Is it really a bad thing to have a leader who can inspire people?
I hate getting into political discussions on message boards so I'm done.

I've always preferred Obama's campaign even though it has its holes and flaws but im liberal . and Hil does have some good points . But she is a major Byatch who i dont want to see as President when I move to the states.

I dunno, as an average potential voter, I can say with some validity that I dont trust what politicians tell me... right left independent or whatever...
Right now Obama seems like a good choice, and they say that Ohio plays a key role in the Presidency.

The most disturbing part of this election for me as someone who is FIRMLY against illegal immigration is that none of the remaining candidates will do anything about it. What is infinitely worse is that George Bush as a conservative won't even do anything about it. We can secure Iraq but lazily approach our own domestic security.
Illegal immigrants will be the death blow to this country with their abuse of our services, inability to assimilate, and strain on our public schools. Every single one of these candidates want to grant amnesty to people who don't deserve it. You don't pay into our tax system yet you want the same services that I seek? Democrats have the nanny state attitude that has put us in financial ruin. McCain is backed by the same financial planners that were a part of the Reagan administration. Let's not be fools and assume that all presidents are well versed in economics. They have advisers for that.
P.S. good points Narls, a lot of that is true but is the alternative to stop fighting terrorism? We have to be in their lands because we are addicted to oil. This is the key and it should be the same goal for each party. Get us off our addiction to oil f*cking NOW, not 10 years from now, not 20 years from now F*CKING NOW. You mean to tell me that there is no genius out there that can come up with a way to make all of our cars 100 mpg somehow? it's ridiculous. When we are no longer addicted to oil, we can leave the Middle East and let the bastards live like it is 2000 B.C.

U must think all people with brown skin are terrorists, taxi drivers and corner store owners. Its people like you that give Americans a bad name. Obviously you couldn't sense the sarcasm in my post. Where did you state that you lived in Toronto? When you said "move here" I was under the impression that you were actually overseas.

I went to one of the most diverse Public Schools in the country and I know how to interact with people of all backgrounds and races so don't try to talk about personal shit on here and act like you somehow know me.
