Qyntel Woods, perhaps the most talented swingman available on the free-agent market after Latrell Sprewell, is working out in Cleveland and starting to generate a few feelers after his release by the Celtics before camp began. Woods played in only three games for Miami last season after suspensions for violating the league's drug policy and after being charged with animal abuse, but the Heat did pick up his option for this season before shipping 2002's

Thoughts?

I may take a look at him since Ira is out...if he screws up again...SEE YA!

animal abuse.....wtf?

animal abuse and drugs... seriously? At least he can feed his family and have money left over for some hobbies.

We don't need this guy, let him go to the Blazers or something

Hey, if he can help us better than somebody alse that is on the team, then why not take a chance?

I want to win as much as possible. If he can help us win, then I want him here. Same goes for Spreewell.

Qyntel Woods was arguably the worst part of the "Jailblazer" era. Qyntel's character is probably worse than both Sprewell and McInnis. One of the nice things about our team is that all the guys get along, have good character and like each other. Woods had some nice Summer League stretches of scoring 30 points but outside of that, what has he done? I'd have to search my mind hard to think of his impact. When Woods was drafted, we heard of his "potential" to be like McGrady but we have to get past that. While guys with questionable character can increase your team's talent level, they can send chemistry and camaraderie to hell in a hand basket faster than you can blind.

ChicagoCavFan: Woods was accused of having an illegal dogfighting ring at his house (blood was found in his house in a narrow "L-shaped" room for dogfighting). Plus, there were claims Qyntel would leave his dogs outside in the snow for days at a time when he went out on the road; and his neighbors heard the dogs barking and had to feed the dogs, since Woods never did it himself. This is where the abuse charges came from.

Wouldn't even consider it... You can tell dude is always high as hell too..Probably smokes way more then Wags...

Yeah, we don't want LeBron to start smoking weed again. :O

At some point if he proves he's gotten his life together then some team will take a chance on him. He does have talent but hasn't put it together yet due to the offcourt problems.

Woods working out in Cleveland doesn't really have anything to do with the Cavs. He isn't a fit at all with the Cavs right now. There are a couple of guys (don't know the names) and a facility in the Cleveland area that has had players working out in recent years and has developed a good reputation.
Hopefully Woods has matured and gotten his act together.

Rodney White > Qyntel Woods

rodney is a straight ball hog and woods i love animals too much so no thank you.

I AM an animal. I find it reprehensible. The only thing I found more objectionable was the Kaz Tadano cockfighting incident. He was forced to apologize to his Tribe teammates, but I never got over it.

Moo

Aside from any chemistry issues....

Woods is a swingman. SG/SF. Do honestly need that? And for those who say, "Newble is out so I'll consider it," aren't you happy that those minutes are going to our young prospects, Luke and Sasha? Are we going to sign up another guy clogging up minutes? Why didn't we sign Kelenna Azubuike again?

Yeap. No to Sprewell or Woods. Because we have no need for them. If they played Center, then I would be interested. But no thanks. Go to Denver and workout, you chump.

I don't want Qyntel Woods anywhere near this team, personally. #1, we have enough clutter at the positions he plays already, and #2, he doesn't fit with the type character Danny Ferry and Mike Brown would want joining this team. The toughest and most tricky aspect of putting a team together is making sure you keep the chemistry in balance, and risking any problems that could arise from an unneeded addition like this seems foolish to me ...even though the guy has a high ceiling as far as raw talent. There is a reason he is free ...and available at this point ..

I think we all agree we wouldn't want Woods on the Cavs. There's really no need for any changes right now.

Like I wrote earlier. Woods working out in Cleveland has nothing to do with and no connection with the Cavs. He's training at a facility in the Cleveland area. Nene and a few other players have also worked out regularly in Cleveland. It's similar to the situation of Tim Grover, Jordan's former trainer, and players going to Chicago to work with him.
