What format did you see it in? I think I'm going to go watch it tonight in Imax 3D. I fully expect the storyline & acting to blow, but I'm hoping it's a spectacle to see in Imax 3D. Haven't heard great reviews so far.

I saw it in IMAX. I went in with really low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. Basically, it was a poor man's version of the 1st one. I was expecting a homeless man's version of the 1st. Eva Green was really good.

I was just about to write the same post. I ended up seeing it in Imax 3D last night just to watch some awesome scenes and I came away surprised. It's certainly not a great movie by any means, but I'd give it a 5.5-6/10. It definitely didn't have the drama, suspense, or storyline of the first one, but it wasn't poorly acted and it at least kept you engaged. I don't know if I'd watch it again on tv, but seeing it in Imax 3D was a spectacle.

Just watched Gatsby.

Thought it diverged from the mystery of the books a little bit. From what I remember, from middle school English, was that they never really told how he exactly got wealthy. You always assumed that it was from bootlegging, but I never thought they came out and said it.

That whole part about sailing with the drunken millionaire and everything else just came out of nowhere for me.

Overall, never thought that the book would translate well in to a movie, and I'm not sure I was wrong.

I didn't think the first one had those things either. The first one was "good" because it was unique. The very stylish fighting scenes and the lighting was all kind of new. Made the movie.

Yeah the first movie had about the simplest story you could ask for. Three hundred soldiers go to war against an entire army and, eventually, they all die. Not a lot of drama or suspense there seeing as you already knew the ending going in. It just did a really good job of translating that simple story to a visual medium.

Unfortunately, that stylization fared less well when Snyder tried to make Watchmen, which I think really was always destined to be an amazing David Fincher film.

The first 300 was almost inspiring. I wanted to go like, lift weights and shit after I watched it and the narration was a nice touch. Some of the lines were witty too. This one was hilariously bad. The acting was beyond pathetic and everything in between the fights was unwatchable. The sex scene with the odd facial reactions had me cracking up aloud in the theater.

Just an absolute abortion of a movie. Girlfriend and I are in a slump since the last movie we saw in a theater was tucking Robocop.

Hopefully grand Budapest hotel digs us out.

Robocop had a penis?

Meant to say fucking but auto correct on iPhones turn it into tucking lol

Veronica Mars - Solid movie if you were a fan of the show back in the day. It's basically just an extra long episode of the show, though. It does nicely set up the character for future stories, and I know that Rob Thomas has at least one novel coming out based on Veronica Mars (comes out next week I think...found it on Amazon by accident last week). Overall, worth a watch if you're a fan. If not, you probably won't get that much out of it, since revisiting/remembering the characters is part of the allure. Not that it isn't a solid whodunit/mystery flick, but a lot will be lost on you if you haven't seen the show.

Anchorman 2 - Nowhere near as good as the first film. It has its moments, but overall I found it a little lackluster. I laughed more during a repeat viewing of the first film when my parents were visiting for Christmas than I did watching this one for the first time.

300: Rise of an empire - 4 / 10 stars

Boring Boring Boring. The special effects were good but everything else about this movie was just soo average. It has a decent story told in the most uninteresting way. I have no idea how Zack Snyder agreed to produce this and not realize how poor it was.

That the fuck? Is Michael Bay hell bent on ruining everything that i loved from my childhood? First Transformers and now this?
