Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Think you can help me piece all of this together? My god that movie was unbelievable and I get the main jest of it, but it was definitely a little confusing.

Sure, any questions you have? (rather than posting the whole story here ;) ).. I've seen it plenty of times so I'm pretty familiar with the story.. It's best to let it linger for awhile, and on second-viewing when your senses aren't so shocked from the visuals you can really appreciate the story more. Even on the third-viewing, you'll pick up little nuanced bits of the story. It's really quite an amazing film.

I have recently gotten into movie watching a lot more than when I was younger. I feel like I have missed a lot of great ones.

Someone give me a top 5 or 10 movies of all time and I'll get to work.

I don't feel like making a personal list because it would require too much time to think about, but here's a good place to start:

Obviously I don't agree with the order of this list, and it's based primarily on popularity, but there is plenty of great shit on there.

The Kosis fleeting/ignorant/biased thoughts of the top 10:

1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) Awesome. Best movie that's on TV constantly (along with Coming to America). Andy Dufresne is that dude. Goosebumps.

2. The Godfather (1972) Immaculate. Classic Drama. Nick Cage's uncle directed. See this and study this.

3. The Godfather: Part II (1974) Probably better than the first. Pacino shines. Pass on the third.

4. The Dark Knight (2008) Best comic book movie of all time. Ledger owns Joker and turns cartoonish into dramatic. Nolan did things.

5. Pulp Fiction (1994) Might be my favorite film of all time. Spot Kathy Griffin. Incredible story-telling. Fabienne wasn't supposed to knock over that lamp.

6. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) Clint Eastwood is a bad man. Used to impersonate this ish.

7. Schindler's List (1993) Powerful movie. Debbie Downer for approximately 400 minutes.

8. 12 Angry Men (1957) Meh.

9. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) If you love movies with 8 endings this is a must-see. Pass.

10. Fight Club (1999) Quite possibly the most overrated movie of all time. Eff this movie.

Would love to hear about why you dislike fight club. I thought it was great.

Shawshank and Pulp Fiction are easily in my own personal top 10.

Shame on you for not having ONE film in your list featuring Paul Newman.

Fight Club was a really good movie. I haven't had to deal with anyone outside of the internet that raves about it endlessly so I have never had the feeling that it was overrated, but I get that.

I also understand when people don't love Lord of the Rings because of its length or being a hardcore Tolkien fan (perhaps too hardcore). But that trilogy is possibly the most outwardly beautiful piece of cinema ever. The landscapes are gorgeous, there are some stellar performances with a fair amount of necessary ham and cheese, the story universal and grand and has added action... It has everything I want in a film experience.

That being said, I've only seen Godfather I and II once and was not overwhelmed by their greatness. I can see why people rate them highly but they wouldn't make my personal top ten. I'll give them another go at some point, but I found myself getting bored at times.

The Dark Knight is great but has been overrated, even for as good as it is. I especially am baffled by people that apparently loved this movie but shit on Rises because they started being plothole experts for the third one while letting everything slide in the second installment. Love the whole trilogy.

I recently saw Dr. Strangelove for the first time. As a comedy and for its comedic elements alone I'd say it is quite a bit overrated. But as a film, a captivating story and a commentary on the world during the Cold War it is a wonderful film that holds up as a satire.

That comment was probably on the ignorant side, but I warned of that. The movie was fine but it was so hyped that I couldn't enjoy it when I saw it. Not to mention that I wasn't wowed by the plot twist and thought it was a bit contrived. It makes so many people's top ten and I just have to disagree. Not to mention I think Fincher has other better films that don't get near the praise.

EDIT: No problem at all with Brad's abs.

I actually really liked The Two Towers. Thought the pacing was perfect. First one didn't move well enough, and the third, like I said, had way too many false endings. I felt like they ran out of time and had to put a bow on everything. I will admit I was never a huge Tolkien fan so I probably didn't get as much out of them as I could have.

Well, depending on when you watched Fight Club, a lot of other movies and some TV shows have copied the dual identity twist. If you saw the movie when it came out, I wouldn't call the twist contrived at all. It may seem like that now because of all the imitators.

Saw Looper, wasn't all that impressed. Still a decent movie though.

Watching the remake of Total Recall. Wtf, they're not even on Mars? I like the throwback hints though like the lady with 3 tits and the fat lady at the station.

Like the Arnold version better. Also, wtf with Malcom's dad being the bad guy but not selling meth. Also, what president knows how to knife fight?
